    79 6hp e-rude wont hold wot

    I have a 1979 6hp E-rude; it will run up to wot for about 30 seconds then die down to less than :confused: half throtle. Was told the high speed jet causes that, so i rebuilt the carb. Motor still runs great at low to mid range throtle, but same reaction at wot. I can pull the choke half way...

    gaining horse power

    I currently have a 1979 70 hp johnson. Was curious if I could raise hp with engine rebuild? If so, does any one know how much hp gain is to be expected? Would it be more cost effective to sell and buy bigger? current motor has less than 300 hours. :confused:
