Just a simple Nationwide Ban that they can't be making a Wake within 8 miles of a Shore would pretty much solve the Problem

At a Lake not too far from my City, there were lots of Smiling Faces, when several Wakeboard Boats had been visited by a Hole Saw

Damaging others boats is a sickening act, does not matter if you agree or not it is a felony.

Not wake boats but, several years ago a lake in central Wi , several people woke up to their boats being gone. They found them in the middle of the lake and the motors were gone. One had the motor chained on and they cut the transom with a chainsaw. Never found the culprits.

There is no more law enforcement in the USA. Especially Marine police.

These Days, Felonies are displayed as Status Symbols at the Highest Levels....

I saw a non scientific study on wake size and bottom depth more than 8 yers ago. It showed that the bottom was messing up the wake until 12' deep.

Just more reason for the wise or responsible to stay from shore and other boaters or swimmers.

I think the concern is the Wake Messing up the Lake/River Bottom, not the Bottom messing up the Wake, which in my Opinion would be Good News

Gee, I think it is crap. Waves churn up the bottom during storms as well as on normal days. You heard about all those boats flipping or sinking in Lake Tahoe, when the wind blew up unexpectedly. Was the bottom of the lake unaffected?

For several years, along the Island beach portion of the barrier island in Barnegat Bay, PWCs were prohibited from 100" of the shoreline. That makes no sense to me. My speedboat or cruiser can do just a much damage along the shore as a PWC, maybe more since the prop sticks down more than the jet drive outlet. Also, any person on a PWC zipping along the shoreline will find out how moronic that stunt is, as they will hit something.

There was even a swimming beach that had a sign prohibiting PWCs from pulling up on the beach. What damage could a PWC do pulling up on a beach? Luckily those signs prohibiting PWCs have vanished. I have no love for PWCs, but overreach by law enforcement is worse.

Around here, the Apostle islands area, they are out there, but they can’t catch them all. In my opinion they don’t need more, we need smarter boaters.
