Seems like a scam in the making to me.----Just like some of the electric car / battery companies that have walked with lots of coins in some pockets.-----Nothing to show for the " investors "

I would normally agree with you, but since Zach De Bernardi and Frank Stephenson are involved, I would highly doubt that.

if they get anywhere close to actual launch including just a certain level of funds no actual product needed just yet they will get scooped up by a biggie and either disappear to protect the current 'monopoly' structure or become a budget line for the same biggie - but never as good as it could have been.

a true, dependable aka not engineered for a 7 year life span, point a to b vehicle built to last or be worked on by and average joe (or redneck one) would be a complete paradigm shift for the world.

To complete my old man cynicism i'll also add we could just let the ones in that are already in other countries....

I’m going to go out on a limb and say this goes nowhere.

Four failed business ventures and nothing of substance other than a self promoting article on his own website.

His LinkedIn profile says a lot.
Fine arts degree with a minor in business admin
Allstate claims adjuster, liberty mutual claims adjuster, sold new homes for a builder and now an automotive manufacturing mogul. Oh, forgot podcaster… lol

Another ----Bricklin or DeLorean ?-----The big international carmakers could market this in 1 year if the demand was there.

Interesting comparisons.
Both of which were made by industry insiders.
And made in Canada and Ireland, NOT Texas.

I think there is a demand, and was, and Ford knew it, but then decided to change it up and make something marketed for the new college grad, few of which can afford to buy it. The few that can afford it, aren't buying an entry level vehicle.

Interesting. In 1975, the Brinklin cost twice that of an F100, or twice the price of a Buick Riviera.

Whereas, the REO will be priced at half the price of an F150 or a Chrysler mini van.

I think the market dynamics have changed enough over the last 50 years, that they have a chance of making it. And their plan is to produce a larger, but similarly sparse, truck, in the future.

A chicken in every pot.
A REO in every garage.
Think Small
Small Wonder
Its not a truck Its a REO
More Freedom, Less Money.

A few more taglines, from the Olds history book.

The logical truck at the logical price.
You can buy a bigger truck but not a better one.
This year own a REO - the fine truck at a low price.
There's more than a touch of yesterday in the REO's of today.
Sized right ... powered right ... priced right ...

REO Seedwagon was my first big concert.
It’s to bad I don’t remember it😂

Sadly I feel the same way as some of you about these trucks. It’s a great idea but if it gets anywhere the big dogs will do their best to make it go away. As Joe said there are simple straightforward trucks in other countries that could be sold here but the big dogs work hard to keep from happening.
It’s not going to be smooth sailing to get this idea off the ground. But I wish them all the best
I do love one AI rendering of the truck. Its great look.

A few of the sound bites REO has been letting out via social media.

Every REO ships as bare bones as possible. No screen slop, no spyware, no telematics. All freedom to the driver. That said, some people want more tech and lots of people want self-driving vehicles. So we’ll give them the OPTION. For fleet buyers especially, this makes a ton of sense.

That’s why our roof is designed for modular attachments. Lighting, racks, camera systems, and anything else you can think of, including LiDAR/Radar units front and rear. Our intent is to develop a program where an aftermarket FSD package can be fitted directly to the roof mounts. That same program would include a full retrofit kit for steering and brake components, bolted on aftermarket, to turn any REO into an autonomous vehicle for both hardware and software, all through our marketplace. Again, this will be an OPTION only. The core truck will always be as simple and freedom oriented as federal standards allow.

1. We are building these trucks for long term ownership horizons.
2. A lot of these will be fleet vehicles. If the USA goes FSD we want to be ready for that.
3. All automakers are investing in FSD. This is how we do it without spending a dime so we can license it in the future.
4. The initial use case of our modular mounts (you will see soon) will be for lights, antennae, etc. FSD is just one example but is likely the highest yield long term and is also completely novel.
5. This lets us focus on building a great simple truck that can meet future demands.

And this little thing, for your bits.
Those who know, know. 😊
