On my '98 Johnny 150HPV6 there is a short (6 inch) wiring harness with 6 bullet connectors that go to the ign switch. The other end plugs into the main boat harness. The P/N is likely 0176673. I had thought it would be avail, but no dice. Anyone have a source?

I could solder new bullet connectors to the original wire. However, I thought that since the harness is simple and small, replacing it would be cheap, and I would get new connectors on both ends.

As of now, I cleaned the bullet connectors with electrical spray, sanded the insides of the female bullet connectors, sprayed them again and reinstalled them. I also taped the harness to the steering head so it would not flop around.

if you cleaned all surfaces applied cleaner etc... you should be ok

one option is to slide some heat shrink tubing over individual wires and seal them up for increases huminity protection and mecanically resistance. some tubing have sealing glue inside for added sealing. cheap protection on amazon.

another option is large size hs tubing to enveloppe all wires or protect everything with split tubing of proper sise

Is this for a dash key switch? and not a control box?

Yes, Dashboard mounted ign switch, used with a side mount control.

The plug in connecters are used to save factory assembly time.-----Just use an older switch with screw terminals and make your own !

Unfortunately, I needed a new keyswitch last year, and replaced it with the original style. I am therefore married to that harness.

It is no big deal, moneywise.

I think the harness needs two yellow/red wired with M and F connectors. These wires go to the remote control for the neutral lock out.

I just removed a concealed side mount this year and mounted a regular control box...so I'm aware of the two wires coming off that delicate switch. Both these harnesses have only one. Trying to remember where the other one comes from. Old age....lol

Upon further review, it seems that the ignition switch has a crack or something that disconnects the battery power from the ign power under a little bit of force. I had thought it was a bad bullet connector. I did a lot of wiggling the connectors. I found the offending connection and replaced the bullet connecter and it made no difference. I taped everything down so the water's chop would not bounce it. It still disconnected setting off the power on alarm. My guess now is that the ign switch cracked. The ign switch was new last year, after 30 years. My fix is to apply electrical tape around the ignition switch connectors to hold them fast. I will try to test it this year, before I pull the boat for winter.
