    How critical is an air silencer gasket?

    1988 88spl primer pump lever?

    Hey guys was wondering what the red lever on my primer solenoid is for? I know if I turn it one way I can blow thru the feed tube and air comes out the two smaller tube that go to the carbs. If I turn the other way nothing flows thru. So what is it for and when would I open and close it? Thanks

    Wiring repair

    What would be the best method for repairing damaged wires in the engine compartment of an outboard? Should I just butt crimp and heat shrink or splice and solder then heat shrink? Thanks

    Foam in an outboard cover?

    What is the foam on the inside of the outboard cover for? Do I really need to replace it if I remove it? If I do what type of foam do I use and where can I find it? I would assume it was to cut down engine noise. Thanks Bryan
