Auto Sale: Private Party Loan Document>Where?

Hi, I want to sell my Camry to a friend. It's worth about 5k. He wants to pay $1500 down and make payments over one year for the balance. I'm fine with doing that; I just want to put the deal in writing. Can anyone give me a link to a source for a (free) loan document that covers all the...

    Advice on Choosing a Battery?

Hi, I have a 1977 Mercury 85HP (4 cyl). This coming season will be my third with this boat. When I first got it; it had been sitting un-used for over 20 years. It needed a battery, and since I didn't know how well it would run, I didn't want to spend much money to find out. I bought a...

Hi, It's a 1998 Ford F150 with the 4.6 V8; Extended cab; Short Bed. Used for pleasure and for towing my runabout (mainly on the Interstate) If money was not the object (after all; no shocks are THAT expensive) what brand/model of shock absorber would you recommend? I just want the...

Something to be said for the L Drive

Today I had the opportunity to take a good look a an L-Drive installation in a small Bayliner. I had never paid any attention to L-Drives before; in fact I never even knew they existed before reading this forum. Most people here comment negatively about the L-Drive; It's orphaned, parts are...

    WIND!!!WAVES!!! Ferry gets Whumped! <<PICS!>>

These were sent to me by a friend in the Puget Sound. On Thursday October 18th Western Washington was hit with a 50+ MPH wind storm. He made his way down to the Mukilteo Lighthouse Park to witness the Mukilteo to Clinton ferry taking a pounding. These Issaquah 130 Class ferries are over 300...

Why no Air-Cooling; in light of water's issues

Hi all, I hope this isn't too "off-the-wall" a question... I've been around small boats all my life and am recently educating myself about larger vessels and their associated systems. I'm new to sterndrives and notice post after post regarding corroded manifolds and risers, freeeze-cracked...

Yamaha more susceptible to Salt corrosion? Take a look at THIS! Pic!

I guess that maybe the "precision blend" of alloys is responsible for this? If you want to buy it; it's on e-bay (where else!!) Item number: 160163659109 As a question here....I wonder if one area is worse than others when it comes to salt water corrosion. I live in Southern...

Warm boating days...Freezing Nights...How to protect engine?

Hi, I live where boating is enjoyable all year long. The days are often at least in the 60's but the nights frequently drop to 20F....sometimes even lower. Assuming that I don't want to do a complete winterizing each time I pull out...what do you folks do to protect an I/O from freezing when...

Twins. Does one work harder than the other?

My neighbor has twin Yam 115's on his fishing boat. His mechanic told him that the port engine "works harder" than the starboard engine; presumably because of prop load. I had never heard this. Is it true? And, if so...is it customary at all for the engines to be swapped around after a...

Do Many of You Flush the Lower Cowling?

Hi, Every once in a while I use my old Merc 85 in saltwater. Especially when in following seas, water surges against the stern and momentarily splashes the outboard up to and slightly above where the lower cowl meets the wrap. (The electrical harness plug goes underwater....) When I trailer...

    Outboard Powered Formulas (Thunderbird)

Why is it that with all the "original" brochures scanned and available for viewing at the Formula site....that there is nary a mention of any outboard models. Are they not "true" Formulas? Even the NADA listings seem to skip over them. I know they made them; I own one. Mine was made in Paso...

    Anyone Work in Health Insurance?

Hi, My situation is that I'm 58 years old and looking to retire. I plan to close my company (thru which I've provided myself a Blue-Cross Policy) and thus will need to consider purchasing health insurance as an individual policy. I hear stories that many times individual coverage is difficult...

Can Starter be replaced w/o Pulling Engine?

Take a look at this installation if you have a moment... Apparently the starter needs R&R.....in looking down in there...it looks essentially impossible to reach the starter without pulling the engine. Is this correct? I've never worked on V8 I/O's.....they sure look to be a nightmare...
