STEERING CABLESIDES OUT, UNTIL IT DOESNT....?

Figured it out. Impacted old grease was keeping the cable from sliding out. Tapped it with a rubber mallet and it came out.

    Pouring out fuel

When I lift my 86 Yamaha 50ELJ to pull I from the water after fishing, fuel pours from the hood. A lot of fuel. Are the carbs being dumped? Or is there something wrong? I didn't notice this last year.

STEERING CABLESIDES OUT, UNTIL IT DOESNT....?

Trying to install a CMC PT-130 tilt/trim unit on my 1987 Astroglass 151 Bass, and when I pull the steering cable out, it stops and sounds like the larger diameter end, where the steering arm goes, is hitting something inside the shaft it slides through. Shouldn't it just slide all the way out?

Tripleshot ducer and a MinnKota Edge

I have a Minn Kota Edge trolling motor and i just purchased a Lowrance Reveal 7 with the Tripleshot transducer. Has anyone ever mounted this ducer on this trolling motor? The skeg is huge and right in the middle of the motor housing. And i would really like the ducer on the bow as opposed to...

    New switch panel wiring

I didn't wire anything up in the pics. The switch panel came pre-wired. Anyway, I've figured it all out now and everything works as it should. I appreciate the helpful responses. Thank you all.

    New switch panel wiring

This is the switch panel. I've figured out that you wire the red and yellow together, and the black and blue together. Sorry I didn't get back sooner, but I wasn't getting alerts for responses to my question, like I usually do. I appreciate everyone's input. And nothing is stock anymore. The...

    New switch panel wiring

I am installing a new switch panel and I has the blue and yellow wires for the lights on the individual switches. My question is, how do I run those two wires? With the power and ground (red and black) or separately? Thanks in advance.

    Fuse or circuit protector

I am installing a fuse block, as there was absolutely nothing before. Just a bundle of wadded up wires, zip tied to the compartment. Everything will run through this, but some devices have their own inline fuses or CB's. I was simply curious as to weather I should run the fused items and the...

    Fuse or circuit protector

Not a trolling motor. It's an anchor winch. But i imagine the principle still applies.

    Fuse or circuit protector

I just purchased 2 Minn Kota DeckHand 40 anchor winches. They have built in circuit breakers, but should I also run fuses to them as well?

    Hull vents

I suppose it ventilates the area where the fuel tank and batteries are. I'm simply going to build an aluminum bridge over it to mount the winch on. So I won't have to move the vent and it will not interfere with its function.

    Hull vents

I suppose that would work. Thanks.

    Hull vents

Looks like I'll have to relocate it. I can move it to the side towards the outboard and it will still pull air out of the hull/bilge. I've looked at this every way I can manage, and the current vent location is the ONLY place I can mount the winch.

    Hull vents

There are two of these. One on each side. One (port side)has a flexible duct which goes down into the bilge opening. The other side (starboard) has none at all. Idk if it used to at one time, or not. Starboard side opening faces forward, port faces rearward. The rear facing one is the one in...

    Hull vents

There really is no other place for the winch. It's very large and takes up nearly all the space I have. I have no idea where else to mount it. Any suggestions? Forgive the mess, I'm in the middle of rewiring the boat, as the old wiring was quite atrocious.

    Hull vents

Thanks fellas. I'll definitely move the vent to another location. I assumed they had a purpose, I simply didn't understand what that purpose was. I appreciate the help.

    Hull vents

Do all bass/pleasure boats have vents for the hull? I have a 87 Astroglass 151 Bass and I want to install an anchor winch, and the place I need it has a rear facing vent. The forward facing is on the opposite side. Are these necessary or can I remove it and mount the winch over it?

    Wiring

Not rewiring the motor. Its the ONLY thing thats never been messed with. Everything else has been mucked up and the original wiring is super weak and breaks with a touch or bump. And all the wiring was wrapped up into a ball and zip tied to the wall of the battery compartment. No fuses, no...

    Wiring

I am re-wiring my bass boat this winter. What size wire would y'all suggest? I was thinking 14 or 12 gage. Most things call for 16ga, but I want to go a bit bigger for less voltage drop.

    Lower unit oil?

I'm winterizing my new-to-me 1987 Astroglass Bass 151 with a 1986 Yamaha 50ELJ outboard, and I need to know what weight and how much lower unit oil to use. It did not come with a manual and I can not find the information anywhere online. Also, should I run antifreeze through it as well? Its...
