Should the outdrive trimmed all the way down or just resting on the floor of garage? Had to rebuild trim cylinders last year don't want to have to next year. Thanks,
I have an older pressure tank that has worked great all summer and has just developed an air leak, causing the motor not to run unless you constantly pump the button. I have seen rebuild kits for these that are just the top gasket. I need the whole kit including the primer button and gas cap...

I have a 1957 RDE-19 Johnson 35 hp. Was running excellent last week. I changed plugs (same type, gap etc.) Motor now backfires and will not start but every once out of every ten tries. I tried the old plugs same effect. Good spark and gets fuel to carb. W/ the cover off of the motor there...

I have a 1999 Searay w/ 3.0lx mercruiser. Power steering pump is leaking. Do these have the big o-ring around the pump section and the tank? Also, how do I get the slop out of the drive or is this just air in the lines? Thanks.
I have two kawasaki js550 standups one is 1982 and the other is a 1985. The 1982 jetski has a thin hull(if you shine a flashlight through at night you can see the glow) In these years they did not use fiberglass but a plastic type material. I was wanting to re-work the bottom of the jetski...
I have a 1957 Johnson 35 h.p. RDE-19 on a 1956 Feathercraft (boat weighs roughly 500lbs.) Carb has been rebuilt just this month and the carb settings seem perfect used the post from Jim Reeves to do this. Boat used almost 6 gallons of fuel to go 10-15 miles @ roughly 3/4 speed @ 20 m.p.h...
Okay I have now taken the lower-unit back off of my 57' Johnson 35 horse and discovered that it leaks in the area of the shift shaft. Alcan had previously mentioned, this but I thought that I had changed it. My question is how do I get to the o-ring inside the case, I do not see it...
1957 Johnson 35 h.p. lower unit still leaking after new seals and pressure test, I have heard you do a vacuum test on these lower units after rebuild. But how do you test it and if it does leak how do you find the leak? Motor is RDE-19. Thank you,
I have just recieved 18 horse Evinrude that runs pretty good, need to know the year. Serial # 15032 16960 I can not find model # on transom bracket like other motors, is this all the numbers or should I look somewhere else. How good are these motors? Got the motor for free just missing the...
I have taken the lower unit off of my 35 horse Johnson and ordered a lower unit seal kit from i-boats. Was wanting to know what the o-ring at the top of the driveshaft is for.(has a space where it fits)? And does this come with the new lower unit kit? I have researched my manual but can not...
After finally getting the boat running, I am still getting a hesitation getting up on plane and then getting a slight stutter at full throttle. Gas is fresh and carb is rebuilt with new fuel filter. Any suggestions? Thanks, Thad
I finally have gotten my old Johnson to run good enough to get it off of the trailer and I was wondering how fast this boat engine combo should go? Boat is 1956 Vagabond II 15' with a 1957 Johnson 35h.p. with brand new Michigan Prop. (10.5 x 12) Boat only should weigh 315lbs. I figure with...
I have a 1957 Johnson 35h.p. that will not rev up past 2650 rpms. I have rebuilt carb, checked armature plate under flywheel, and throttle linkage itself. Could the float be incorrectly adjusted? Any suggestions?

Thanks, Thad
I am interested if anyone knows where to buy new carb needles for 1957 johnson 35, I need both high and low needles. High speed is bent badly and low is questionable.
