    Can anyone tell me how to remove the crankshaft from a Clinton 7 HP K700 outboard? I have it completely tore down, but cannot see how to remove the internal retainers holding in the bottom shaft bearing and seal, I have the outer retainer removed for it was easy and out in the open on the bottom...

    Will do, I also found where someone had been into this motor and reused the head gasket, and in doing so they put copper based silicone gasket maker on it, to me that is a no - no. You must always use a new head gasket for once they have been compressed there done for.

    Thank you very much for the reply. But I have learn from other sources that the compression of 80 PSI is my issue, they say that either there is broken rings etc, with that low of compression it is not opening the reed valve to suck fuel mix from the carb. And that does make some sense to me...

    In hopes someone out there can help me. I have an old vintage clinton 7 HP K700 series outboard motor, that will not even fire. I rebuilt the carb, the pulse pump is working just fine, the reed valves are like new and sealing tight, the points are clean and gaped at .20, the spark plug is new...
