    Spark question when checking compression

    Do I need the key 'ON' to get spark at the plugs if I were to try to start by jumpering the starter solenoid? Or in otherwords what I am getting at, I checked my compression by pulling all plugs and didnt jumper the wires to ground and just ran the starter by jumping the starter solenoid. I...

    What temp to check compression?

    Do you check it when the engine is at full operating temp or cold. Does comression normally go up when after the engine is warm or visa-versa? Thanks, Brett

    Why don't boats have more forward gears?

    This may be a dumb question but why dont boats have more gears, at least 3. Logic seems to think that would help out on gas and not have the engine reving so high. Although I am relatively new to boating and can't say. Brett
