    sandblasting exhaust manifolds

    I have some surface rust on my 1989 OMC 5.7L exhaust manifolds and risers. It is not bad, just doesn't look good. Is it ok to take them off and sandblast them before re-painting. Also what do I look for when I have them off to see if they need to be replaced. Thanks for any help?
