    I just rebuilt the carb on my 1980 mercury 40 hp moter serial #5992846. I placed the carb on the moter and began to prime the moter.     I have a 1980 Merc 40. The prop will be coming off to replace, my Question is how would you go about removing a stubborn prop, I bet is has been on for 7+ years plus it was used in salt water. My main concern is cracking something other than the prop. Is there such a puller made to do this...

    Adding or temporary tach

    I need to figure out what rpms I am running in the water, so I can get a prop with the right pitch. should I add a tach permanetly? or is there I can get the RPM reading with some type of tool? thanks Bryan

    Moter boggs/ dies, runs eratic @1/2 plus throttle
