    can you add different carbs to a 1975 40hp rude to give it a little more jam than stock? i am new to boating and this is my first outfit. Can any mod's be made to this motor without casing too much damage? Boat is only rated for a 41kw or 55hp engine. can't afford a bigger motor right now...

    Lower gear case oil color.

    just drained my outboards lower units and came up with two different colors of oil. my 5.5 (johnson)oil was jet black. my 40 hp rude's oil was an army green color. is this a sign of internal seal damage causing water to enter the oil? may be silly but i'm new to boating and this is troubling...
