    new shift cable bellows

My mercruiser 140 alpha one gen one requires a new shift cable bellows. I simply want to put that little boot onto the existing cable but don't want to damage the cable or make a mistake doing this. Is there a simple procedure to do this and starting at which end? thanks

    Mercruiser 140 exhaust boot replacement

I have a new boot to replace the leaking one on my 140. Is it possible to take the old boot off and put the new one on without taking removing any major parts. Or, if not, what is required to get this boot replacement in that tight fit opening. thanks

    84 Mercuriser 140 Controls Question

I bought a boat with a 84 Mercruiser 140 I/O. The controls are different than any merc I have had in that you apparently pull the handle out from the wall to disengage to neutral for throttle only, there is no button to bypass shift. But when I turn the key it only engages the starter when...

    Running without oil

I want to know if I can start a 3.0 engine while the lower unit sits empty of oil. I will have to take the lower unit off anyway as it needs a complete seal kit or more and had some water in it before I emptied it out. But, I want to find out if the engine runs ok as the engine is all I really...
