Here's a couple more pics. Here's the size of an adult foot on the cushion - no way it fits under the gunnel! These tall gunnels probably give lots of rigidity to the hull, but do take up space. What's the point of having these cushions extend way up to the bow?

I didn't test 5200, but did use the "Amazing Goop" and found it bonded very well to the vinyl. They sell that stuff in a wide range of packaging - Shoe Goop, Automotive Goop, Household Goop. It all looks and smells the same to me, but here's the one I used:
Interesting - thanks for the details. The bow area is all spray-foamed pretty solid, and the gunnels have a block of that white beaded foam in there, so there is very limited access from behind, but they may have done it that my on my hull originally as well. That might explain the sawzall...
My SS16 clone had mostly decomposed side cushions around the gunnel sides and front of consoles. What are the recommended methods of mounting these? I can' say for certain, but I think the previous owner's method of using mild steel machine screws and kitchen cabinet knobs is not the best...
@ShoestringMariner : I hadn't thought of lifting the whole console, but agree getting the steering up a few inches higher would be nice. Of course, it's almost April, so I need to focus on just getting splash-ready for the season!
My splashwell is already flat in that area, so that could work for me too. I think some add-ons will need to wait for 2023 though. Maybe we'll see how many times the portable ladder that just hangs over the side gets used. Off to roll a slightly thicker coat #2 shortly, if I can find my way...
