    68 Offshore restoration

Cutting the head or nut off to keep it flush, will defeat the purpose. I get that it won't look perfect, but none of these boats are show boats. Last thing you want is the epoxy to crack and the flush bolt to fall off. That would ruin your day more then a couple bolts in the transom. Just my...

Best options for holes is a rivet patch or a bolt through it. As for what you have done, I have never tried, but I agree that any filler without backing I wouldn't trust. SHSU

    68 Offshore restoration

While galvanic corrosion will happen, SS is the least damaging for the return on strength that I have seen. Plus I haven't seen where you can get Aluminum bolts that would work in the applications we use SS for. Original parts from factory weren't SS and you can see how long these boats have...

I am wondering if I should have bolted my hull back together instead of re riveting the entire thing.... lol SHSU

    60hp vs 75hp for 160ss

I get that, I can't tell you how many trips we just puttered around because I couldn't get her above 2k RPM, but I guess I am stubborn and like to bang my head against a wall. SHSU

    60hp vs 75hp for 160ss

I am sad to hear you are dropping the Stinger. I still like to tinker on my 1977 70HP Evinrude. But can't argue with going new. Wish I could justify the cost. lol SHSU

Ya, underpowered gun. You could try upping the air, but guessing that won't help. SHSU

I remember the burn out too. A short break it needed, plus you still got some time before Summer Splash. SHSU

    1976 22' SUS O/B "Hydration Break"

I didn't have a z but an L bracket for mine. I didn't reinstall as I was securing it to my splashwell which was more structural after my redesign. I think the L would work just fine with the rivets and 5200. SHSU

    68 Offshore restoration

Noticed you used blind rivets to secure the braces, thought you were going to use solids all around? As for the knee brace, I used 1/8 sheet formed to hull, slathered in 5200, and then riveted through direct to knee brace with 1/4 rivets. That way I didn't have to worry about it. As for the...

    '67 Holiday 18' - Make it Usable

If I were always on a lake it wouldn't matter as much. Don't really get any spray to speak of when we are out tubing and such. When I am out in the bay/gulf, which is most of our outings, I get constant spray in the face no matter how calm. Just something else to think about... lol SHSU

One thing to consider is will you be to far up for the windshield to work. I am to tall for mine and wish I had made something custom, but that is another story. SHSU

Any protection you put on the wood is more then what came from factory. You will see many different ways people have done it on the forum. Ultimately, as long as your happy that is all that matters. Never heard of using Canvas glued and painted as a protectant. I would almost be concerned...

I can't remember if I beveled my edges or not on the square boards. I did on the front section though. I used a jigsaw to cut my bevels. SHSU
