Starcraft 1971'? 16' to Duck Boat Rebuild

I put my starting battery within 6 feet of the motor, but sounds like you have planned for the run length is wire size. Just remember wire will get very hot quickly if you are cranking on it for too long. As for all other accessories, I used 14 gauged which was over kill. So your 12 gauged...

Starcraft 1971'? 16' to Duck Boat Rebuild

I see you have the original end caps. Suggest you secure them with bolts and nuts. To many have lost them the rivet fails after a good strike on a dock or such. Once lost, finding replacement would be like looking for a live dinosaur... SHSU

A metal sheer machine would be the easiest, but I have done both angle grinder and metal saw. Both work. SHSU

Make sure you predrill your holes so they will be straight. If you try after you install, you can get slightly angled holes that may cause issues down the road. SHSU

    198x SS-150 rebuild

I added King Starboard on top of my bunks. Its very slick. One word of caution though, being so slick you have to make sure you don't change direction quick when the boat isn't tied down.... Almost dropped the boat when trying to put it into the water. lol SHSU

New here and questions Starcraft SS 16

Echoing what others have said, just setting expectation at doing a complete rebuild. That way, if you find one that is better, great. If not, then you were already planning for the time/money. I thought our rebuild would be done in 2 - 4 months. 6 months tops.... 2 1/2 years later we...

1982 Starcraft Center Console 18' Rebuild

Since you removed the knee bracket, suggest you also add an additional backing plate: Backing plate, hull, Knee bracket. It was suggested to me by @Watermann for extra material to help prevent stress on the hull. SHSU

Starcraft 1971'? 16' to Duck Boat Rebuild

Only dumb question is a question not asked. As for the controller, it can be mounted on a flat surface. Generally seen on top or the console next to steering wheel. SHSU

Got any pics? Usually they can sit on the dash or the top of the console. Pretty much any flat surface. SHSU

    New (to me) boat owner

I have a 1974 Evnirude 70. The nice thing is I can do all the repairs on it. The newer ones with computers/fuel injection can't usually be fixed by us garage grease monkeys. That being said, I am with you on wanting an new outboard. Would love to have a 90 hp on the back of mine. SHSU

    New (to me) boat owner

Do any water tests? Always good to know how many leaks you might have and if your bilge pump is working. Also make sure all your Nav lights are working and you have the appropriate emergency equipment on board for signaling and such. You never plan to use it, but always good to have when...

    198x SS-150 rebuild

Yep, so guessing both are undersized/powered for what you are trying to do. You should be able to over flatten a rivet, as it appears you can't think you need some additional muscle. SHSU
