    1988 Starcraft Mariner MR 220 V rebuild

I've only used the grey, never the white. I've always associated the white with glassers and the grey with tin boats:) Personally, I'd stick with the grey.

    1978 22' V5 Super Sport CC

Likely converted from the dual consoles with the V5 SS plate. Not sure they ever produced a V5 CC from the factory, but I sure like it. You can see the side console mounting bracket still on the starboard side, but the front deck and console look to be standard Starcraft CC/MR/Mariner...

    Wanted 1981 Mariner emblem

Unless you're trying to keep in original, I'd lean towards a vinyl replacement. As jbcurt00 noted, like a needle in a haystack and probably much easier to find some sort of alternative.

Opinions on seating arrangement on my newly restored 1976 16’ SS

My Springfield pedestals were swapped around pretty easily. I had a few different heights depending on if I had my kids or other adults along. The pedestals themselves are pretty cheap.

    1972 Holiday seat replacement

I’m in the same boat (haha, see what I did there) looking to redo my seats/cushions. I plan to replace the backers with some new ACX ply, seal with epoxy, and see if I can salvage the vinyl covers to use as a template for new replacements. Likely need to find a local upholstery shop to sew...

Opinions on seating arrangement on my newly restored 1976 16’ SS

Sounds similar to the seating I used on my ‘78 16SS. 4 plug in bases + 1 on the casting deck.

    1988 Starcraft Mariner MR 220 V rebuild

Do you know a good tig welder? I’d definitely be adding another skin to the transom, but think I’d bite the bullet and have that seam welded with a little reinforcement. Maybe weld on some pods while your at it. Should offset any additional weight of a 4 stroke if you ever go that direction...

    New Journey

Building a little 8’ workbench for the garage and going to top it with a 8’x30” “transom” 😁 Picked up a couple extra sheets of 3/4” ACX AraucoPly so figured I’d get things glued up for the pending transom replacement if I was making up 1-1/2” sheet goods anyhow.

    New Journey

Yeah, trying to determine the height from the bottom edge of the actual wood transom to the top of the wings to see if I can get it out of one 4x8 sheet or need to use two. Don’t want to half it and glue it to find out I’m too short. Unfortunately, there’s still 4 hours between me and the boat...

Anyone know the approximate transom depth/height for an 18ft’r? Is it less than 24”? Have a 4x8 sheet on hand and thought I’d rip it in half and glue it up to have it ready to template, but wasn’t sure if I’d need more than 24” in height.

    1988 Starcraft Mariner MR 220 V rebuild

Man, that's one rough looking transom. I'd definitely be adding another sheet of aluminum over the entire transom, but I'd be most concerned with that bottom seam as it appears to be totally gone with no good aluminum to work with. If it wasn't for the fact it was a 22' MR, I'd almost suggest...

1973 starcraft ss restore in progress

Yeah, not sure how well they got soaked with the initial spraying, but maybe they just weren't wet enough. I had the same dilema with my SS and just salvaged the original wood, cleaned them up as best I could, sealed them with Spar, applied some new padding/cushion and wrapped them with vinyl.

I have them hit the tip ups on occasion, but that was one of the few I've hit on the jigging rod over the years. Ironically, my biggest hard water catch was an incidental 40"+musky on a 4lb test and a wax worm jigging for pannies.

    New Journey

Me and a buddy just lifted it off by hand. Not too bad with another set of hands. This model has the transom clamps too, so it makes it easy to get everything all unbolted before lifting it off without risk of the motor falling off/over. The tilt/trim lines were a new undertaking, but I...

Surprisingly, the only thing behind that box was a huge chuck of Styrofoam. There was also about a 2" sheet along the entire front of the helm seat where the two 6 gallon tanks were located. This model also has styrofoam run completely under the gunnels, and I'm willing to bet I'll find it...

    New Journey

Well, the fish weren't the most cooperative, but the wobbly pops were in abundance. Always takes a bit more time/work than anticipated, but I managed to get the motor home along with the seat cushions, windshield, bow rails, and some other trim pieces. Got the console, livewell, and seat...

Probably better off in the Merc forum, but anyone have any feedback on a 1984 115hp I6 TOP vs a 1991 90hp 3cyl? Both with PTT and controls.

Mariner Center Console rod holder inserts?

Yeah, many different options out there. If they're the tube style, just google "flush mount rod holders" and find one that works. A picture of your center console would be helpful as well. There were a few different versions throughout the years.

    New Journey

Getting ready for the motor. Heading up to ice fish the weekend and de-rig the MR180. Hoping to yank the console, seat, and livewell too, but not sure if I’ll have room to drag it all back. My buddy is up there every other week or so though, so I’ll get it all home eventually...
