    1st boat - 1981 Starcraft SS 160

Here is a custom switch panel I did on my '72 Nova. Plenty of options, just depends on the effort and expense you want to throw at it.

    1st boat - 1981 Starcraft SS 160

Yes, I was going to do a custom switch panel but just went with the store boat one. Nothing fancy and I swapped out some of the included wires with known tinned marine grade and waterproof connectors. The complete front casting deck is open underneath, so the hatches just allow for different...

    1st boat - 1981 Starcraft SS 160

My 16SS was an enjoyable build. Really liked the layout for fishing with a modified front casting deck and removable pedestal seats throughout. I went with US Composites epoxy for my transom, Spar on the decking covered by Nautolux vinyl.

    1979 Starcraft 16’ SS Refresh

I used the US Composites epoxy on my last two transoms. Spar on the decking, side panels, and other interior pieces covered in vinyl.

    Ss windshield brace

Mine were cut off from the get go, so wasn't really done by choice. I considered fabricating something up, as well as removing the windshield completely, but found I didn't mind the look without them and it felt stable enough after mounting where I didn't have concerns about the structural...

    Ss windshield brace

I was trying to look back at old pictures to see if I had something showing the bolts or holes in the consoles and couldn't find anything. I seem to recall having a bolt or two on the side panels as well. It really didn't seem to give up much structural integrity without the braces present.

    Ss windshield brace

My side braces were removed on my ‘78 16SS. It didn’t seem to cause any issues and the windshield still seemed pretty solid.

    IDENTIFICATION HELP

Yeah, definitely an '83, looks like a 16ft FM160 with the side console.

    1974 Starcraft Jetstream

Did you get the rivets behind that center trim piece that go through the panel and fasten into the inside aluminum shelf?

    1974 Starcraft Jetstream

You should just be able to remove the screws or drill out the rivets from the base trim into the deck, as well as that top trim piece, which if I recall correctly, is also riveted to the underside of the gunnel as well. There are likely rivets located behind the center trim piece that attach to...

    New Journey

Yeah, had I known I'd be three boats in by now, it might have been a good investment. My Harbor Freight gun has worked just fine. But...with an assortment of M12 and M18 tools/batteries on hand...it is a bit tempting:)

Oh yeah, a bit spendy, but anyone have any experience with the new Milwaukee M12 Rivet Tool? https://www.milwaukeetool.com/Products/Power-Tools/Specialty-Tools/Rivet-Tools/2550-20

    New Journey

My wife knows me better than I know myself, and I can see why she didn't want another boat sitting in the garage until I had all my other projects taken care of... As I brainstorm this next adventure, I'm seeking input from the mob. 1) Motor - the boat currently sits with a 1982 Mercury 70hp...

    1984 Mercury Trim Question

Yeah, based on the serial number, it looks to be an ‘82. The hull is a ‘84, so I believe the PO believed the motor to be the same. Thanks! I’ll be stripping everything off the hull for a complete rebuild and placing the motor on a stand to go through it as well. Was hoping I could just...

    New Journey

Haven’t figured out what’s under the box, but assuming it’s housing the runs for the steering and control cables. Battery is stuffed under the narrow splashwell and two 6 gallon gas tanks stuffed under the helm seat with a run under the deck for the gas line. I like the looks of the windshield...

What’s the cleanest and most economical way to convert this port side Commander control unit to a top mount or starboard side mount? Seems like all the top mount units are $300+ Or, do I just keep it as is...as backwards as it seems?

    1984 Mercury Trim Question

When I pull this motor off the boat, does it come off as one unit, or does the motor and tilt unit get removed/installed independent of one another?

    New Journey

We had an agreement. Her biggest concern was with all the other projects going on around the house...and knowing me, I would be too focused on working on the boat and not finishing everything else. She had a good point:) I didn't want to lose the platform, so now I have it secured in my name...

    New Journey

Yep, no V5, but should make for a good MN fishing boat. Large enough for any of our bigger lakes, but still small enough to get on smaller water, fit in the garage, and be easily launched, trailered, etc.
