    I would say that the outboard ( no mention of model / HP ) is lighter than the inboard / outdrive.------I would beef up the transom and tie it to the stringers where inboard bolted on.----Move axles if needed.----Go fishing.

    Many folks think that these big 4 stroke motors were not designed to be repaired after major breakdown.----If you can do the work yourself there is a possibility it can be done.

    On your motor stand , the propshaft MUST be turned for easy shifting.

    Simple-----That shift rod does not turn.-----There is no adjustment there !----If throttle is not at slow idle it can not be shifted.----Find the real issue.----Your location ?

    Well----The Johnson / Evinrude 10HP and larger had a lockout in the 1950's already.

    Heating the area where the bolt snapped off expands the aluminum at twice the rate of steel.----It may let go.---Shift rod was disconnected ?

    These motors run very well on 5 of 6 cylinders.----See if spark jumps a gap of 3/8" on each lead.----These motors ( with original pistons ) have a history of broken piston rings !-----I can't make you do it , but a wise owner would record the values of a compression test for future...

    Correct.----I would never buy a new pump off the internet.-----I would just install a new diaphragm.------About the only thing that can fail on these pumps is the diaphragm----Simple easy fix here on my work bench.
