Help with trailer rear bearing replacement

The seal should be flush with the hub. By pushing it in an extra 1/4' you now have machined bare metal that will rust and interfere with installing a new seal the next time and having it fit properly. It is easy to drive a seal into its seat flush. Without having the proper tool it is...

    Spring must be close.

Soo Locks will open in 10 days. One of the first signs of Spring in the Mid-West.

    Battery question

Years ago when I was running 4 trucks and 2 cars I would buy a new battery for my bass boat every Spring and then put the battery from the boat into which ever vehicle had the oldest battery. Shows that by fishing was more important than my business.

    Why Oil Injection?

I am old enough to remember putting one quart of straight 30 weight into 5 imperial gallons of gas. Back then everybody and one or two extra sets of spark plugs in their tackle boxes. If you did a lot of trolling you would clean the plugs for the next days fishing. Now most plugs that people...

    Battery question

Never saw a battery do like that before. Sort of narrows it down to the battery having an internal fault.

    Battery question

Was this after you cleaned and tightened all the connections? If not sounds like a corroded connection. Are you reading the voltage with a meter on the battery posts or from the dash gauge?

    Must Have items!!!

You need two boats. I figure what you are asking is what items are common to each use.

    Re-wire kit

Unused or stray wires in a harness is common. Boat builders would use the same harness on all the boats of a particular model and install it as the boat was being built. That harness would be constructed for all the possible variations of accessories that might be ordered. One individual boat...

Registered at my local lake today,, Bit of a rant😮

I have seen that at other reservoirs that have multiple agencies trying to manage. The water company owns the reservoir, the county leases the land for a park, the state still has its boating regs. Too many fingers in the pie with competing interests.

    daily music fix

Makes me feel old every time I hear of the passing of one of my favorite artists. Always was a big Skynyrd fan from their early days on. The first real formal date with my present wife was a Skynyrd concert back in 1998. Gary was with them still then along with Johnny Van Zant.

    What size

I have a 12' Meyers V aluminum that I use on the smaller electric only lakes around here. A couple of years ago the oldest boy picked up a 5hp Merc 2 stroke. Ran it on the lake with the 5hp and it would plane guessing about 15mph. Your boat is probably a little heavier so speed would vary...

If you raise a rain barrel 10 feet high, and attach a garden hose what kind of pressure can you expect from gravity alone.

Fresh water or seawater. Having been a Navy firefighting and damage control instructor many years ago all that math was permanently stuck in my brain. I used to tell my students early in the course that if Toriccelli had used water rather than mercury it would be 33 feet high. That made it...

What depth is safe for a stern drive 16ft to 18ft boat?

Knowing what river could help. Are you planing on pleasure boating, fishing, or even water sports? Are there charts, aids to navigation or do you just have to learn it through experience. I can think of 3 rivers right now that I have boated on close to home with similar depths and they are...

    Bow Stopp Guidance

Having been young and broke and now old and thrifty (cheap according to my wife) I feel your pain. That boat trailer was obviously not set up for that boat. Google "proper set up for boat trailer bunks" and you will find a lot of info on setups. It may be possible to use the existing trailer...

    First plane ride/snow !

Been there. Mine was an April Nor'easter at Navy Base, Newport RI a few years before '85. Mine wouldn't start and opened the hood and saw why. Dug the snow from under the hood by hand. Didn't have a shovel so pulled a sign out of the ground by the post to dig the car out. The sign said...
