Bottom up restoration! MY FIRST BOAT

Getting the bearing carrier (as it’s called) out can be tricky. You need to get or build a puller. There’s a couple videos on you tube about it. Next is penetrating oil, heat , and patience. Took me 2 weeks of that process to get mine out. depending on where the engine was salt or fresh water...

Where can we launch in the Chesapeake Bay?

There’s many that can be used. From marinas (might charge you a couple bucks) but you may also be able to dump your trailer there for the day. I’ve used the local ramp in St Michaels. And you could park your trailer on the street. No cost! I Just had to contact local police and give them my...

Final layer of fiberglass cut to fit. Getting the hang of how much epoxy to mix up the surface area needed to be wetted out. Next will be flip it over. Wet sand and compound the top. New nav light coming and reinstall the aluminum edge. Once the weather breaks I’ll take out and fit to the boat.

More progress. Trimmed away the excess glass… a good sanding all around (my favorite part 😂). Set wiring in tube before putting second layer in….. laid in second layer of ply… set it with thickened epoxy. Clamped in for the night… Boom. Another step completed.

Thanks! Agreed… I just wasn’t keeping track of the kick off time. Things were getting hardened up before I had a chance to make it smooth.. oh well. I’m good at sanding/grinding😂 I’ll be more careful with the second layer.

Great idea… not sure it’s worth the building of the jig for one scarf joint. But I did watch several videos on the process. Always learning here.
