what to use to line ski locker

the bottom carpet was loose, and not glued in, but was NASTY and had obviously NEVER been out of the boat. I am thinking ease of maintenance, because we all know NOBODY is gonna pull the junk out of the locker on a regular basis anyway.... (just bein honest....) something that doesnt hold...

98 Horizon 180 pull engine to change starter?

not quite the same, but the starter on my 1995 170 with the 4.3 was able to be done just by removing the doghouse, and shifting the fuel fill and breather hoses a bit. Still tight, still a PITA, but doable without pulling the engine. Hands the size of an infant with the grip strength of Chuck...

what to use to line ski locker

I have some epoxy left over from when I did my shop floor. I may clean good and lay a coat of that in the locker to make sure its sealed up tight... and to make it look better....we shall see...

what to use to line ski locker

when I cleaned it out, I had an anchor and about 10 fenders in the locker. Nothing aside from the anchor that I would consider harmful, but I figured asking isnt gonna hurt anyone either.

what to use to line ski locker

"New" to me boat has carpet inside the ski locker with about 1/4 foam padding. This is unacceptable for a number of reasons, namely IT TRAPS WATER.... Thankfully I have "non-wooden" stringers, but still. I dont need to be trapping water next to the hull... what is the general consensus for an...

Easiest engine drop in replacement for 1986 MCM 470

I would agree with Scott... preference being on the 4.3. Keep in mind you will need a "new" bellhousing, and an actual y-pipe for the exhaust to mate the engine to your drive. These should be readily available, but if possible in your area, look for a derelict boat that someone is practically...

    replace coupler or not?

that should clean up OK. Ran worse on many cars back in the day. Make sure the starter is properly shimmed, and that wont happen.

    Can't remove 5.7 vertically.

I was thinking battery cables.... as one other stated, this boat is a nightmare to work on, but then again, so are most modern cars..... access has been sacrificed to "styling" and CAD design without regard to actual in person access is the norm. 99% or more of the "designers" will never be...

    Houston….. We’ve had a problem…..

and these are the "after" pics..... I still have a LOT to do, but I need to re-orient the stern downhill first. the jack doesnt get high enough where its parked to be effective draining out the bilges....

    Houston….. We’ve had a problem…..

and first round of power washing is done. The before and after is fairly telling... this thing has a LOT of dust in it.... even covered, if we get a dust storm, it will get everywhere.... and this one has likely seen several, either covered or uncovered... its disgusting... but getting better...

    Houston….. We’ve had a problem…..

time for a bit of an update.. Got the pump cleaned up, a bath in CLR took the accumulated "lake crud" out of the bronze casting, and it looks and feels like new again. Reassembled the pump, and reinstalled it. Fired the boat up on water, and it backfired a bit through the carb.... blew out a...

83 Chevy 350 SB valve springs w uneven heights? Is that normal?

it looks to me that you have rotators on the exhaust valves. This would be completely normal, and they do sit a bit higher than the plain keeper. Main thing is that the stem that the rocker arm pushes on is approximately the same height.

    MOTOR SWAP

you CAN swap in a 4.3 for your 5.7, but the main question is why? the engine will physically bolt up to the bellhousing drive. main differences are that you will likely need to move your motor mounts back a few inches, and you will need to source an appropriate intake. Most if not all of the...

Boating with small children ( Toddlers ) Best Life Vest.

been taking our son out since he was little.... when he was small enough, we put him in his life jacket (required in AZ under 18) and he sat in his car carrier. When a bit older, he sat with either mom or I with his jacket on. We just got them (and ours) from Bass Pro. Easy enough to test fit...

1992 Four Winns Horizon 190 with OMC Cobra 5.0L: Engine Oil and Outdrive Oil recommendations?

I also use the 15w40 (either Delo or Rotella) in my boats (and most of my other vehicles as well). Again, I also use a synthetic gear oil in my outdrives..... Some may argue, but more equipment has been ruined by NO OIL, than has ever been damaged by the WRONG OIL.... change it often, check it...

Casting numbers help omc cobra 5.0 HO motor thought 1993

not real sure what the question is here.... the casting number on the intake manifold starting in D3OE is a factory Ford casting number, and will be found on many Ford manifolds, not just in boats. the 5.0l designates it as a 5.0l Ford cast block. The OMC tag is relatively easy to decode using...

Stupid question…… garboard drain plug size

Simple, but stupid question….. what size pipe plug are the screw in garboard drain plugs usually….. new boat doesn’t have one with it, Wally World doesn’t stock them here, and I’ll be damned if I drive 100 miles to get one from Bass Pro…. I have an Ace hardware right down the street, and IIRC a...
