    Engine support while towing.

aluminum pontoon transoms don't like excessive flexing either

    Engine support while towing.

it's the transom that's taking the brunt of bouncing and flexing when trailering. That's why they're called transom savers. If the motor could be balanced evenly over the center of the transom and kept there, and the transom was exactly vertical, you probably wouldn't need anything, except for...

    Engine support while towing.

I've got a '21 merc 115 hp, CT motor. I'm sure your 90 weighs close to mine. Previously had a merc 60 on my pontoon and didn't use a transom saver, never really noticed it bouncing much. But this 115 bounced like crazy, so I use a transom saver. I also learned not to use the tilt lock for...

2.75's are they just bad designs?

yep..good luck with that. It Just depends on your goal. you can tweak, but that can get expensive. ahicks is right. When I went from my 60 hp to my 115 hp, I only gained 6 mph. But I did get the tube hauling performance I wanted, but at a significant gas cost.... I tore up my 3 blade, 16x12...

2.75's are they just bad designs?

ok..well...so the plate is below the motor pod but just wonder if that 3/4 center toon is causing flow issues. If it was me, Id be trying to see where the plate is in relation to the water when at speed. Anyway. these are my #'s on the props I've run. 24', twin tube(25"), '21 Merc 115 CT. Dealer...

Should I replace my surge brakes with electric on my boat trailer?

just fresh water for me. Minimal towing. Launch in the spring, retrieve for a lake trip, back home to launch, then retrieve at season end..not much exposure. Brakes are 7", 10" wheels. shouldn't matter I wouldn't think. No rust issue, just couldn't get uniform performance from the new surge...

Should I replace my surge brakes with electric on my boat trailer?

I totally redid my karavan's surge/drum system when I bought my used pontoon about 7 years ago. '01, tandem trailer with a completely neglected, non-working brake system. So on went brand new brake assemblies, coupler/master cylinder, rubber brake lines, bearing, races and one new axle.....The...

2.75's are they just bad designs?

And I learned that reducing my prop pitch, or blade #, or diameter ( they ALL effect max rpm) my top end speed would drop but my rpm and "torque" would be better.... generally speaking.....

2.75's are they just bad designs?

ah, propping a boat......I cannot, nor will, tell you what prop as propping a boat as I found out can be.....interesting. And I knew basically what that involved. I'll say this: I put a new 115 merc. CT motor on my 24', twin tube (25") pontoon. Normal operating rpm range is 5000-6000 rpm. They...

2.75's are they just bad designs?

yep..I wouldn't drill holes yet. If it's one thing I've learned about pontoons in the last seven years it is they are more susceptible to ventilation and prop height compared to a standard hull. I just have a twin tube, the motor is a long shaft, and before I lowered it, I couldn't trim up at...

2.75's are they just bad designs?

is the motor at a correct height? lowering my then new motor in 2021 on my 24' pontoon just 11/2" fixed my ventilation issue...

    axle repair sleeve question

yep...I can do that....should be fine..... but if it causes problems...Karavan said they'd make me a new one (called today) for $188 like they did two years ago ('cept it was $90 back then). They still have the specs and blueprints for my year trailer still.... ....good people....

    axle repair sleeve question

It's a done deal. The sleeve did not fit as an interference fit as it should have but it also wasn't really loose..but it would spin. So I just finished with the green loctite. Will check it tomorrow. If it's tight, great. I'll check it at season end. Just have one big trailer trip, about 2.5...

I've thought about loctite also...better than jbweld for this purpose?

    axle repair sleeve question

ok...I've ordered a micrometer, I plan to measure it and see if I can get one. Didnt see anything about heating one up, they just use a press fit with an installation tool....

    axle repair sleeve question

I've got a trailer axle that has slight damage , mainly some grooves, on the grease seal face. 11/16 " axle. ordered a repair sleeve that fits perfectly and doesn't wiggle, but doesn't press fit on like it should... I thought maybe using jb weld as a glue to stick the sleeve on...

Easier time putting on the trailer

I'd say your in too far with the trailer if you miss the winch post. yep, learn to power load.... I have a yellow stripe I painted on my trailer where the water touches it which I determined after loading a few times. Definitely helps . Most people have, and I plan to add, the round pvc pipes...
