    Over Temperature Alarm Sensor Level?

Thanks for the info Scott. I found the catalogs in the stickies. Hadn't thought about a water pressure sensor. Not sure where I would put it but maybe on the inlet line to the heat exchanger just before it feeds raw water to the exchanger as that would also cover any leaks between the sea...

    Over Temperature Alarm Sensor Level?

Well, picked up what I thought (and the guy at NAPA said) is a temperature switch for a 1996 GM 5.7L. Got home and checked it with my multimeter and it isn't a switch. It's just another temperature sensor. After hours on the internet looking for a temp switch, I realized that what I need to...

    Over Temperature Alarm Sensor Level?

I am installing the Monitor Full Closed Cooling system on my 1996 GM 5.7L Vortec engine. The Monitor system comes with a 160 degree thermostat and the manual says that it will maintain the engine between 160 and 170 degrees. I need to get an over temperature alarm sensor. I have read in a few...

    Speedometer Connected to GPS Device?

Great, thanks for the info. It looks like the Sierra Eclipse Black Domed GPS Speedometer is what I need. It has the NMEA 0183 connection for getting the GPS info from my other instruments. I do need to decide whether to get the 35 or 60, cruising boat with 5.7L vortec and alpha one gen one.

    Speedometer Connected to GPS Device?

Is there such a thing as an analog (or digital) speedometer that gets its speed information from a VHF Radio or Fishfinder with GPS instead of the water pressure tube?

    Carb Recommendations for 5.7L Vortec?

Thanks for the model numbers. I will check them out. I did find a right angle fuel filter inlet fitting for the QJet but not sure it will clear the TStat cover either. I also am not sure I like the design of it.

    Carb Recommendations for 5.7L Vortec?

So the fun of building an engine from scratch is getting all the right parts to fit properly. It turns out that my Rochester QJet carb has the fuel inlet in the front of the carburetor so the fuel line runs right into the thermostat housing as set up with my closed cooling system. Looks like I...

    Alpha one transom bolt question

Mercruiser Service Manual 6 Page A2-7 calls for the seal under the flange of the anode bolt (between the bolt flange and the housing). Note there is also a gasket between the round head anode cap (acorn nut) that screws onto the anode bolt. The anode bolt seals are a challenge to find. The...

    Stern drive woes

Congrats on getting it out. You are going to have a tough time getting the shift shaft inserted back into the shift spool C arm. You might get lucky and it will stay aligned but I am guessing it will probably have leaned to the side and may even have disengaged the spool slot. Make sure you...

    is it worth trying

Can you post some pictures (you might have to post a couple of times before you can upload pics) and what engine and drive is in the boat now? Check for rot in the transom and floor even though it was supposed to be housed all that time.

    My 1981 Citation Marquis...

I used Titebond III to bond my two layers of 3/4 inch marine plywood. Others recommended it. I used Polyester to bond the laminated plywood to the outer hull. Polyester to glass over the entire transom. Haven't used PL anywhere.

    Resin Cracks

Thanks. It is pretty smooth as it is but I was thinking Peanut Butter to smooth it a bit more so that the glass doesn't have any air pockets. All of this will be covered, fuel tank in the middle and floor in front so it will never be seen again when the boat is done.

    Stern drive woes

Just had a thought, where is your shift shaft set, forward, reverse, neutral or just somewhere? The sound could be the dog clutch hitting but not engaging either the forward or reverse gear because the shifter is not all the way engaged or disengaged. When you are moving the shaft around...

    Resin Cracks

Well, 3 1/2 hours later the pooled resin with cracks is ground out in the area where the 60 gallon fuel tank and the galley walk area is located. Still have a little in the bow and the area under the engine (very thick there) so estimate 3/4 done. I got it relatively smooth in the very bottom...

    Stern drive woes

That upper drive shaft has both upper and lower bearings so should be pretty snug.

    Stern drive woes

Just watched your video, it sounds like to me that you have gear and/or bearing problems particularly with the amount of "wobble" in your driveshaft.

    Stern drive woes

I have completely disassembled my whole drive, upper and lower units, and am starting the rebuild process right now on the lower unit. I ended up having to buy a new lower unit housing due to holes corroded through the side of my old one. I have also replaced the lower unit forward gear and...

    My 1981 Citation Marquis...

I also found the farther forward I went with cutting out the stringers, the more rotted stringers I found.. I am replacing them all the way to bow..

    Resin Cracks

Thanks, sounds like I should use epoxy in this area instead of polyester for layering the glass once I get the pooled stuff out.... The light spots where I have ground it down look like the top of the woven that was used in the hull lay up... Guess I should also go with woven instead of 1708?
