2010 4.3L TKS Thunderbolt Ignition Troubleshooting

As mentioned, if your spark test at the coil is consistently good, the failure can only be in the ignition sensor or in the cap/rotor/wires, or wiring to the sensor. If it's intermittent, then all bets off. Edit: Also, wouldn't expect an intermittent issue with the sensor itself unless it's the...

2010 4.3L TKS Thunderbolt Ignition Troubleshooting

Glad it's working but I don't think that's your problem. If either the tach or SIS is grounded you won't get spark from the coil during the TB troubleshooting test.

2010 4.3L TKS Thunderbolt Ignition Troubleshooting

Might also try that last test on the plug wires (or at least 1 with the rotor lined up). Your problem could be coming from the rotor/cap/plug wires as well as the sensor (which it still sounds like)

    Early EZ Shift outdrive questions

I think real old drives had a different number of splines in addition to a different length drive shaft. Shouldn't be an issue if swapping the shafts though. I did think that the cutouts were different sizes for some reason. And also, was OP hoping to keep inner transom plate or swap the whole...

Exhaust flapper fell down in the exhaust tube

Flappers can supposedly wear a hole in the y pipe over time, though I'm not sure if it's the flapper itself or the pin that does the damage. Good ideas about trying to reach it from the drive side

Good point, wrong plugs if so. Ya think that would cause them to blow out like that?

    Mercruiser Shift Issues

Glad it's working, although that doesn't make a whole lot of sense. If you made that switch easier to trip, and it's still hard to shift by hand that would make the problem worse. Either way, pressure testing the drive and fixing the leak is an easy way to potentially keep you from having to...

    Alternator issue 4.3 Mercruizer

It doesn't sound like your alternator was working correctly at all this year. It should be putting out closer to 14 volts. If anything, you need to be worried about the battery with the tender attached, although I doubt the amps are high enough to do any damage. Yes, battery connected backwards...

    Transducer mounting options?

Well, they would tilt, but the ones I've seen still have part of the mount below the hull. that plate is just PVC--not sure why that didn't immediately come to mind, thanks. I have pvc trim pieces lying around that should work. Still going to think of a good hinge design

    Transducer mounting options?

My depth finder transducer *was* mounted in an unfortunate position directly in line with my lift bunks. When lifting the boat in some chop the other day it landed on the bunk and got loosened up. I was about to remount it but decided that I really don't want those holes in my transom any more...

Running it off of a separate tank can help diagnose, but there are many things that can cause it to run better off of a remote can

how does one flush out rust from block?

True, more o2 in the air But it isn't that simple. You definitely need water, and of course salt water accelerates the process. Also, once you have a thin layer of the surface rust, that slows additional rust. So again, flowing warm salt water will also scrub the surface rust more. Again...
