    i have an 87 marnier that starts cold pretty good but takes a long time before it will idle in gear if you get right on it it runs great but when you stop for a while its starts and dies unless you through it into gear or it will kick out the starter and when it idles it idles at 1100 rpms...

    my outboard usually starts pretty good cold but it dies when you put it in gear unless you get on it [ not good in tourny's ] after it warms up it idles in gear ok but is hard to start and the starter will sometimes kick back and sometimes when you run to the ramp to load it wont idle it...
