Hunting Turkey w/o a license cost over $800

All the new crap is like that. On my 18 Silverado. I had to take nearly half the front end apart to get the grille emblem off so I could plasti dip it. No room behind the grille to get a hand in there, so it all had to come aprt. My wife's 14 Fusion is a nightmare to change the headlamps in...

    Getting 1st Covid/Pfizer shot romorrow

Both the wife and I had our second dose of Pfizer about 2 weeks ago. First dose I had no side effects. Wife had a slightly sore arm. 2nd dose I had a sore arm and was tired for about a day. Wife was also tired, but her arm was a lot more sore than mine. She could not raise it above her head...

    Joist hanger help please

GM, no, the 4x4 will be horizontal, perpendicular to the joists. The 4X4 will have the swing brackets bolted to the bottom of the 4X4 to accept the chains from the swing. alldodge's diagram is accurate. Sorry...I'm not artistic...more like autistic. :)

    Joist hanger help please

Foodfisher...Thank you! I believe those will work. No issue drilling my own holes. I spent a fair amouint of time on Simpsons site trying to find what I needed. Less bolts and drilling is good, as long as it will support a small elephant. :)

    Joist hanger help please

Thanks AD. The swing maker recommends the spacing of the mounts @ 65" to the eye, so mounting the swing brackets to the joists directly is not an option as they are on 24" centers. I need to use a 4X4 because the swing mounts are over 2" deep. The 4X4 won't swing, it willb be mounted rigidly...

    Joist hanger help please

I'm struggling to find what I need for a cabin project, but I'm a little out of my realm on the technical terms. Please bear with me and thanks for any of you that can and are willing to help. I'm hanging a porch swing under the deck at the cabin. I want this to be "bulletproof". I need to...

    cooking

For those of you that use wood chips or chunks in your smokers, I stumbled across a great place to buy some specialty barrel chunks. I am in no way affiliated with these guys, I just REALLY like their products. 15% off smoking wood through Sunday too! I've tried several of their chunks in our...

    Snow Birds: Beware!

@harringtondav, Have you seen these? They're called wire savers, eliminating the need to pull a 5th wire. I used one at our lake place when I installed the new wifi stat as I had no way to pull a 5th wire because the basement is completely finished. Link is for Amazon, but you can find for...

    Mississippi Slough Icebreaker

That's a little "chunkier" than we would ski in. :p I haven't done it in a few years, but alot of folks ski the Mississippin in St Paul New Years Day, no matter the weather. There's enough current it seldom freezes. Below from 2006, but a good pic. Sometimes we have to literally cut...

Just thought I'd share a nice photo.

In March of 2018, we had a Barred Owl visit us on our deck. He hung out for nearly 4 hours watching for mice and chipmunks around our bird feeder. I took several good pics (I think anyway). :) First one was taken from inside through the door. Took others when he (or she) perched in trees...

    Any home brewers out there?

Not a brewer, but am a major beer geek. I am afraid to start brewing for exactly the reasons dingbat stated. I'd go OCD on it and just don't need another expensive hobby. I do thoroughly enjoy a good beer. Your IPA sounds delicious, Chuck. I've had a couple of good blood orange IPA's. Like...

    Toy-Nation.....

I prefer a steering wheel vs handle bars. :) But that's me. The side by side is really nice with the bed in the back for hauling stuff. Nice we can take the dog with if we want too. Have a roof and harnesses since this pic....

    Toy-Nation.....

After we bought the side by side, I have little desire to snowmobile any longer. Maybe if I had my own instead of the two up Venture that came with our lake place. We're selling it as soon as we get some snow up there.
