Are you going to connect it thru a switch or full time on auto? There should be one black wire that's ground. Do you have one solid brown wire and another brown/tan/white ?

    Gas fumes.

Find out if your tank is foamed in. If you have a leak and no gas in the bilge there are most likely bulkheads surrounding the tank. You said "Getting gas fumes in the center console", do you mean cabin?

    Ballast resistor? why

Isn't that what a condenser is for? They're just a capacitor that absorbed the rapid spike in voltage to keep the points from arcing. I'm going to read up about ballast resistors, I may as well learn something today.

    Ballast resistor? why

I haven't heard of a ballast resistor but to measure the value of a resistor you need to remove at least one lead from the circuit but you need to know what the value should be. Does the manual state the value of the resistor? Do you have 12v between either side of the resistor and ground...

    Electronics die when cranking engine

You said "checked prior and both of them at 12.5v Weird'. If the batteries are connected in parallel ,+ to + and - to -, or with the switch in the both position, you'll read the same voltage since you are reading them as one battery. If you have any connections that are "a bit eh and loose at...

    Electronics die when cranking engine

I also have two batteries but have two switches, 1 switch for accessories 1 switch to the motor. You don't want your electronics connected to your starting battery, they're turning off because of the voltage drop when you're starting your motor.

    1986 Yamaha 25hp doesn’t run good under a load

When I asked about the primer bulb I should have been clearer. By asking the condition it's in I should have asked if it's puckered as in sucked in or compressed or hard when squeezed or soft where you're able to pump fuel thru it until it firms up.

    1986 Yamaha 25hp doesn’t run good under a load

OK now I'm back to my original guess that it's a fuel problem. What condition is the primer bulb in when the motor bogs down? Are you running the motor on a portable tank? If so have you run the motor with the gas cap off or confirmed the vent is clear?
