    1986 Yamaha 25hp doesn’t run good under a load

When he said he "squeezed the primer bulb and it took off and the rpms sounded right" that made me also think it was a fuel problem and suggested he check the vent and open the gas cap. Question to the OP, why did you replace the fuel pump, fuel lines, coil and clean the carb? Did you have the...

    Starting Problem

When you said "I turn the key and got a reading of 13 volts" is that voltage reading while the key is in the start position (second position) and not just the first click "on" position?

    1986 Yamaha 25hp doesn’t run good under a load

You want to do the prop test with the boat in the water, that's the only way you'll have the full resistance of the water and boat on the prop and hub. Do you know if your prop has a shear pin?

    1986 Yamaha 25hp doesn’t run good under a load

Check the gas tank vent, is it open and clear? If you use a portable tank pop the gas cap open and try it. When you tested the prop as Sea Rider suggested did you do it in whatever body of water your boating in? The reason I ask is because you tested it and replied the results in less than an...

just a minute fraction of the exhaust compared to a 2 stroke, you won't have the burning oil smoke. you have to decide if the $$ to repower is worth it.

Using hose flush to cool engine.

Did they actually have the motor running while the hose was connected to flush port? I have a Yamaha F150, both my mechanic and manual say to not run the motor while only using the flush port.

    Trolling Motor Battery Question

Check the alternator charging current capacity of your outboard. You may be able to run two batteries with a 1-2-all switch. I'd go into more detail but you need to know that spec first.

    Party Deck 21 Fuel Tank

Are you sure you had the nozzle in the filler tube and not a rod holder in the gunnel. Usually I pump the gas into my boat, twice two separate friends on two separate times thought they would be proactive and grab the gas hose and start filling the tank. As I was walking back to the boat from...

    Center console Invader O/B

Since you work for a boat builder you probably have experience and connections. Only you can decide if it's worth your time and money to restore it.

    Washdown

Grab the red part and turn counter clockwise to pull the pump out from the housing. Turn the pump on and make sure the impeller spins. If it spins disconnect the one hose at a time and shoot some water into the hose and see where the water comes out. If you unscrew the pump from the thru hull...

Questions about starting a marine repair business

Ever think of starting a mobile outboard service biz? You can start with a lower overhead by working out of a truck while you learn the game. Where are you located? Here in So. Cal. someone is always asking for a reliable mechanic. Most of the shops are booked up most of the year around here.

    Water not pumping out continuously

You got good advice above. Don't run it until you replace the pump and maybe thermostat too.

    Boat weight capacity plate

Technically you need one. Is the manufacturer of your boat still around? If you can at least read the spec's maybe you can find a company that make metal placards. It depends on your situation I wouldn't even worry about it.

    Boat weight capacity plate

What's the LOA of your boat? I believe if it's over 20' you don't need one.
