Water not pumping out continuously

Hi guys I have a 9.9 marina motor when I start it up it takes about 40 seconds to start pumping water out it starts by a drizzle then pumps really good for about 20 seconds then it stop completely for about 40 seconds and keeps repeating that When I am accelerating it does the same thing. Is that normal or do I have a problem. Quite new to boating so any advise would be appreciated

Ayuh,..... Welcome Aboard,..... I'd put a new water pump impeller in it, just to be sure,.....

I wouldn't. If you overheat it you will have more issues than that. Does it have a thermostat? If so, replace that also.

You got good advice above. Don't run it until you replace the pump and maybe thermostat too.
