    installing a kicker bracket

Well, I guess we all have different ideas and some are better than others. The video was well prepared, but I had to cringe in a few cases. The initial footage showed a boat with the kicker tilted up on the bracket. That's worse than driving down the highway without a transom saver. Silicone...

    1939 Montgomery Ward Sea-King 8.5 HP outboard

4335 is an 8.5 HP short shaft Evinrude Fleetwin made between 1939-1941. 8811 is the same hp and years, and it cross checks to a 'Rude model 471. I find no reference to the "a".

    Short shaft kicker?

I had a 9.9 on an OMC gas cylinder retractable bracket for 35 years. Absolutely awesome piece of equipment. Unfortunately, OMC is out of business. At the time it cost double what their competitors were charging. Most bracket manufacturers advise to not travel on the highway with the motor...

    Short shaft kicker?

That's the answer you need to take heed of.

    Short shaft kicker?

The eye is necessary for proper trailering, mooring, docking, emergency towing, etc, etc. You might be able to move it, but it needs to outboard of the kicker to be useful, and that might not be possible. Remember, the main and kicker need to have full turning independent of each other. In...

    Short shaft kicker?

I had a similar size boat with a SS kicker and it worked fine. Do lots of measurements. In the down position the prop must be below the boat. The waterline should be as "normal" for a SS motor. In the up position the motor should be out of the water on plane. If you have to remove the...

    1939 Montgomery Ward Sea-King 8.5 HP outboard

I'll be happy to help, but I need more info. My Q&D check of my "book" only shows a few '39 SeaKings. The motor should have a metal tag on it somewhere, probably riveted on the mounting bracket. It would have a 4-digit model number. With that I can look kit up and pinpoint it exactly. In...

    Mounting Bolt Compression of Transom

Whalers have never had any wood in the hull except for the transom. Vintage models were cored with foam that would eventually soak up water. But, an unmolested boat should not pick up water anyway. Many failures were due to drilling holes to mount stuff, and not sealing up the fasteners...

    Transom straps

At age 35 I bought a brand new boat. It was the largest I owned up to that date. I cranked it on a roller trailer once. The second time was after I had installed a Powerwinch (brand). Thirty Five years later we upgraded even bigger. It had a fancy schmancy 2-speed winch. Same scenario...

    Caddy XT5 Towing Capability

Sounds like a plan. But how do you do it? Is there a user controlled setting in the setup program?

    Caddy XT5 Towing Capability

After reading your reply I did a little research. It looks like most of the GM V6's have that feature. I was surprised to know that my wife's 2023 Traverse's 3.6 engine has it as well. I certainly didn't notice any change when driving in city conditions. Googling reviews I can't find any...

    Caddy XT5 Towing Capability

Whatever I get will be an order car. The auto braking and other crap is a technology package that I wouldn't buy anyway. I DID take a test drive and I thought the seat was perfect. I have back issues and I need a firmer seat anyway. The variable displacement feature surpised me. I saw...

    Caddy XT5 Towing Capability

Looks like time for a new car. I'm currently running a Lincoln MKX with a 3500# reported capacity. No problems with my 2200# Whaler, but the I have to use the wife's car for the 3600# Searay. Lincoln decided to switch to gerbil 2 liter engines with a limited towing capacity, so that's out...

Just a fun day at the range, I hadn’t been in a few years. I’ll never make that mistake again.

Thank you for your concern. Right now the main concern is to secure the roof. Contractors are canvassing the neighborhood so there is help around.

My son was one of the ones that moved to TN, partly to get away from gun restrictions. His local indoor ranges are prohibitively expensive, you don't get to reclaim your brass, so no need to be a reloader. Outdoor ranges are far away for him. Regardless, screw the guns. His brand new house...

NY permits are good for life. No need to renew. You only lose it if you commit a crime. We DO have to "re-certify" every 3 years, but that's no more than filling out a form online to verify that your address is the same, etc.

NO. A NY permit is a state wide permit. The recent Supreme Court decision that "relaxed" things (yeah right) had the opposite effect - it screwed all New Yorkers. We used to have to take an 8 hour course and it was easy peasy. If you had a semi-valid reason you got a full carry permit. If...

Looking at this - 1st scoped hunting rifle

The Ruger is a good choice and the caliber is also good. If the Mauser is original, doing a D&T would not be cost effective. It would reduce the gun's value and the accuracy would not be up to the Ruger.

My indoor range is open 24/7/365 except for an hour once a month when the club has a meeting. Membership is $50 a year and the range fee is $0. It's 5 miles from my house. The outdoor ranges are only open 9AM to sundown. I started loading my own ammo in 1971. In 1975 I started casting my...
