    Power Boat sinks in Michigan

What the heck is that supposed to mean ? Were you there to see what caused the massive water intrusion ? How long was it floundering for ? Any medical disability's on board ? Honestly your comment was uncalled for .

14 foot jon boat with 8 hp motor almost plane.

Put the maximum HP that it is rated for . All you are going to do is beat the heck out of the current motor by running it at full throttle with too much of a load in the boat . That engine will hate you for being worked to a slow death .

1993 Glastron 175 SSV Elite dashboard switches

You flip each switch , walk around and observe what is on , lights ,blower , bilge pump , wiper , etc . and label . Other choice is to follow each wire to the source and then label.

    Filling with fuel issue

In many cases you can take a rubber hose with a bigger diameter than the vent ftg , put it over that and blow into it. Should clear spider crap out and you should hear the gas burbling in the tank . Sometimes you get wasp dirt packed in there , weed wacker line pushed down the vent will clear...

1997 Sunesta 210: depth finder and engine compartment insulation

Easiest and least expensive way is to replace FF with one built by the same mfg so that your transducer cable will plug into the new unit. Take a picture of the end on the cable , showing the position of the pin connectors and one of the connection in the back of the FF . When shopping check the...

Who wants to play "Your opinion MIGHT matter"?

You will put more money into your project boat then if you went out and bought what you want to restore , and you will probably not find a older ( 80s ) boat that checks all your boxes to begin with . And that's where you will spend all your time and money $$$$ for a couple years to get it done...

Who wants to play "Your opinion MIGHT matter"?

What's your budget ? If under 10,000 fuhgetaboutit , and even that number is low for what you want . Anything under that number and the odds are it's a 80's 90's rot box .

No power to my radio, cabin lights or refridgerator

If you can't get any 12vdc coming out of the box to the fridge that's your problem. You stated it works only on 12 vdc so the motor is not seized up.

No power to my radio, cabin lights or refridgerator

The inverter we're talking about , if you read all the replies , is located at the base of the refrigerator. It turns 110 ( shore power ) into 12 vdc . Not the other way around which I believe is what you're referring to.

No power to my radio, cabin lights or refridgerator

Possibly battery was running your fridge and was not getting charged as charger was shot . 1 amp out of the inverter means nothing to me and my limited knowledge. I am looking to see if you have 12 volts DC going out and to the fridges motor . You have 110 going in and should have 12+- volts in...

No power to my radio, cabin lights or refridgerator

If the circuit board is cooked $$$ , the easiest, cheapest way to " fix " it is ; ebay- amazon ,search for a 110 AV to 12 volts DC converter. I bought one a few years ago when I had the same issue, cleaning my circuit board terminals and jump wire connectors took care of it 3 seasons ago ...

No power to my radio, cabin lights or refridgerator

Two separate issues . The inverter that has 110 going in , is it putting out 12 volts DC ? . You can verify that by checking the voltage from one of the two wires going to the fridge ( + - wires ) . Your " 6 " volt battery is no doubt cooked . How old is it ? Did you check the water level in it...

No power to my radio, cabin lights or refridgerator

If that's the case the battery switch is not part of the 12 vdc that is powering those items . Radios have to have a live hot wire hard wired into them in order to retain there memory , if you don't have to reset everything each time you turn it on , she's wired into a hot wire somewhere...

No power to my radio, cabin lights or refridgerator

I have never seen a smaller boat like yours have AC converted to 12 v DC for lights or radio . Those should work only off the DC . The fridge as mentioned has a inverter on the bottom of it and if you had water in the galley above that then it's time to verify power going in , then see if you...

No power to my radio, cabin lights or refridgerator

In case my post above misses the mark . There is a inverter in the bottom of the fridge , basically a circuit board with spaded terminals attached to it. Usually there are 4 screws holding the fridge to the boat. Pull the fridge back and follow 110 line to box , verify your getting 110 at the...

No power to my radio, cabin lights or refridgerator

The items you mentioned are DC powered. The fridge is both and usually has a dedicated off - on switch on the AC and DC side of on the main panel The AC wiring on your boat is basically the main line , from shore power , goes to the back of the main panel where it is attached to the back of the...

    Water in Bellows

If you're replacing the gimbal bearing then it's a no brainer to do the U joints . Unless you like the thought of your new gimbal bearing taking a beating because the U joint is loose and can't wait to take it all apart again . Do it once and do it right , period... I also reiterate that the...

    Water in Bellows

Replace the " U-J " bellows and be done with it . I'll put money down that that's the source of your water intrusion. Replace the U joint while your at it . Water has already started the pitting process and probably took out a few balls/ needles in the bearing assembly while submerged.
