1985 Mercury 85hp (4 cyl) runs great for 20 minutes then boggs down

It will plug into the rear of Item 4, the water jacket cover plate. I don't see a stat, popoff valve, nor OT sensor in your IPB. They would be on the rear of item 24....but I am curious about item 35. That could be your OT sensor.

1985 Mercury 85hp (4 cyl) runs great for 20 minutes then boggs down

The suggestion to depress the ignition key should answer the fuel problem...not necessary to do any spraying into the venturis.

2001 mercury 90 hp two stroke doesn’t seem to advance timing

Can you set the idle speed in F gear with the boat in motion in the water at 675 +/- 50 RPM with the knurled white plastic knobbed screw on the spark advance lever?

Glastron GT-150 Ideal Prop for Slalom Skiing

More like 15 Pitch, 3 blade if anybody is in the boat besides the driver, Just remember, the prop provides the thrust to push the water astern. The HP provides the torque-RPMs to twist the prop shaft. If you can't twist the prop shaft the prop dimensions are ludicrous.

Glastron GT-150 Ideal Prop for Slalom Skiing

For the jump, not for all the boats used in the movie!!!!!!!!!

Transom heights....why are some lower than others?

Back splash is always a problem with outboards. Deep V hulls need to accommodate engines that aren't offered with 25" midsections. Result is the lower cutout for the engine. Other reason could be for trollers that use a Kicker engine that you want up out of the slip stream when on main boat...

    Transducer installation query

Cured rosin or aluminum are solid substances that absorb and retransmit sound waves very well. Wood would probably be a bummer for a couple of reasons. Acid test would be to go some place where you frequent....know that you will be looking for targets in the area...... and hold the ducer...

    Transducer installation query

Why don't you mount it inside the boat at the transom, near the keel just in front of the disturbance assuming you have clean solid material (no foam, no balsa, solid epoxy glue with bubbles minimized) If you have a dead rise at the transom use a thick layer of epoxy to get a solid triangular...

1999 mercury 90 HP 2 stroke quit on the water!

Time for new fuel lines and a new filter you described. Cut it open and tell us what you find in it. Fuel lines both internal and engine to tank need to be replaced if you find tan chips in the filter or black specks. Then follow up with what others mentioned.

Glastron GT-150 Ideal Prop for Slalom Skiing

Roger Moore of James Bond fame bouncing Glastrons over land between waterways was running 135 HP Evinrude V4s. On the subject I forget how many Glastron (Austin, Texas mfgr.) the producer bought but it took more than one to get the shot.....correction 26 were purchased per the article...

    What next? 90 hp Mariner

Disconnect a fuel line in the engine and with a clean cotton swab, swab the inside of the line. If you come out with specks, yepper, time for new hoses, new fuel filter and all 4 carbs removed and thoroughly cleaned with solvent, fine wire for any orifices, and 100# compressed air cleanout...

    1989 90HP Mariner

The warning system generates a ground for a horn which is energized by 12v from the key ignition switch being in any position but OFF if there is a temperature or oil level problem. Some engines have a modulation module so that low oil generates a warbled tone to distinguish it from the over...

VP DPS-A- running two different pitch propellers?

So what's with running the same pitch or different pitches on one prop feeding the other prop? Maybe I need to get out the Volvo Penta encyclopedia and understand the physics behind the design.

    warning buzzer problem

I just had a thought. A thermostat and gauge would tell you if overheat is the problem or something else. On a different engine and surely on that one too, temperature is controlled by thermostats in each bank and a high RPM popoff valve allowing for increased flow at the higher RPMs. A...

Regular maintenance - change just the impeller or entire housing too?

The rest of that is that any time you touch something you stand the chance of "collateral damage". With that in mind, I don't change things just for the sake of change and changing an impeller is on that list since its a very seldom experience and on my current engine I haven't ever done...

Regular maintenance - change just the impeller or entire housing too?

Soap on the impeller for inital installation. Helps the cover to slide on as you rotate the drive shaft while pressing the cover down. Most rubbers don't like petroleum based products especially those designed for water, not oil environments. 3 problems with impellers I have found are the...

    Rec gas prices???

Not too many years ago Texas reversed the sign you see and realized that getting traffic moving actually saves gas and consumer commute time....when time matters on the paycheck. We have a sensible governor. Hope he keeps the same speeds as currently exist....its an election year and he is up...

    Rec gas prices???

Well that's the kicker because it does justify its increased price in my small engines, espcially 2 strokers that require 89, not 87 minimum per the owner's manual and as I recall my 115 2 stroke outboards manual....in the manual or not they still start faster and run better on 91 octane...

Outboard almost hits transom when trimmed up?

I had that problem once and when trailoring I always turned the helm all the way to the starboard side side since my control cables were on the port side of the engine. Problem some shallow draft, low sided boats have the splash pan set too high for the height of the transome clamp bracket...
