    Looking great! 👀 Won't be long now, the tough part is behind you on this one. On the foam, nothing dams and then soaks up water like expanding foam as it does conform as well as bond to the Al while the foam board just sits on it allowing water to pass underneath to the center low point.

    Those type caps are rare as hens teeth, mainly because they have that handle and guys use them as tie downs which will break the cast Al.

    How large are the corrosion holes and areas that are weakened? A closer pic showing the corrosion would help. Assuming this is the keel strake and only where the 2 red dots are but I also see you have removed the other 2 strakes as well.

    I get that, all the boats I've bought were pretty much a basket case so I knew what I was getting. They've done some serious work on their old Chief, any insight into why they want to sell? Chief looks great in the pics, only thing I can see that you may look at closer are the trailer bunks...

    Did you get the Chief? I'd like to see some pics if you did. :) A 115HP OB would be fine for that boat and get you around 35MPH but you would want a smaller kicker for trolling and another way to port if the main had an issue.

    That's a standard mess we see and yeah it needs rewired to avoid fire hazards, I see a bunch of sketchy connections. Most Mariner guys will run the wiring in conduit up to the center console. Us side console guys have all the mess inside the starboard gunnel hanging down in a rats nest.

    You 72 would have limber holes bent into the rib for water passage to the bilge but they get clogged up pretty easy. Some guys clean them out with a hacksaw blade. You can start by using a pressure washer or whatever you have and spray water at the rib end openings. The later 70's they quit even...
