2008 Chaparral 275 SSI 8.1 Volvo Penta GXI-J Soft Alarm Issues

Those number look OK to me. This engine is "Speed Based Throttle System" vs "Lever Based Throttle System" as near as I can tell, serial number might tell more. I think Mercury has also used both of these depending on model. The only real difference (other then strategy and parameters that are...

2008 Chaparral 275 SSI 8.1 Volvo Penta GXI-J Soft Alarm Issues

A couple of things. Didn't see the serial number. This is a "J" model and there was a serial number break during this model, might be important. @apisk do you have a copy of the EGC Diagnostics Workshop Manual? Had a chance to look at the most recent Diacom file. All the recent codes...

2008 Chaparral 275 SSI 8.1 Volvo Penta GXI-J Soft Alarm Issues

don't have much time to look at this right now but I can add this. 5V Ref #2 is a low current regulator that only feeds TCP2. When the TCP is plugged in, 5V Ref #2 will be pulled down to approximately 4.1 – 4.2 volts. This is normal and no attempt should be made to repair this. I'll try to...

    Volvo Penta 5.7 no spark

Alert ---- I was wrong. This is a IAC engine. This engine uses a Lever Based Throttle System. Basically what this means, If you set the throttle lever to half way (50%) this will command the ECM to try to maintain a certain RPM (lets say 2600 rpm as a guess for this engine) so the ECM will try...

Seeking your knowledge on SX-M maint.

First thing that jumps out to me. An SX-M shouldn’t have ANY play at the prop. No side to side, no in or out and should have a little resistance to spinning. Might want to start with why there is play, also might be a good idea to measure how far each prop blade is from the anti-ventilation plate.

    Volvo Penta 5.7 no spark

Not all gauges are accurate, might want to try a different gauge. If you want to test for enough fuel under load, you must test the fuel pressure while you’re under load. When I watch the video you posted it looks like you might be testing without enough load. If you don’t have a helper, I...

    Error code dtc222:tps2 voltage low

I’m surprised that was your problem, pretty rare for that to fail. I’m glad you got it fixed.

    Warning lights on dash.

If my memory is correct, the lights get their signal through the black box which watches the gauges. So if the gauges work, replacing the sender won’t help.

    Warning lights on dash.

That’s not how a VDO dash works.

Yes, the two TPSs are inside where your finger is. Probably not, only way to know is to troubleshoot it.

“I ran out of gas. I... I had a flat tire. I didn’t have enough money for cab fare. My tux didn’t come back from the cleaners. An old friend came in from out of town. Someone stole my car. There was an earthquake. A terrible flood. Locusts! IT WASN’T MY FAULT!” J. Belushi January 24, 1949 –...

2010 350 Mag MPI bravo 3 gaurdian mode issue. 5% power

What you’re asking me to do might be illegal. While I do agree with civil disobedience in some situations, I’m not sure boat repair is one of them. I do ask that when people are looking at which elected official to give your vote to. Please consider their position on “right to repair” as part...

Do you have 2 engine lights on your dash, a red and amber? When this happened did they light up or did you get a warning horn or other notification?

2010 350 Mag MPI bravo 3 gaurdian mode issue. 5% power

I don’t have a cheat sheet, where I have found the information is in the class study guide, class notes and diagnostic manuals. Unfortunately most of this is copyrighted and I’m afraid to share.

2010 350 Mag MPI bravo 3 gaurdian mode issue. 5% power

More than a few times here on iBoats people have posted codes that don’t match anything in the correct diagnostic manual. Usually it seems like they come from SmartCraft/VesselView or Volvo EVC/easy connect. With Volvo I have a conversion sheet. So I was hoping you had some sort of cheat sheet...

    Error code dtc222:tps2 voltage low

Oops, just reread your post. Says you are at 750 rpm, we call that “forced idle” and a DTC 222 is usually a “derate 2” which holds the engine at about 30% power. You might have more than just this one code. Might need a scan.

    Error code dtc222:tps2 voltage low

No. This looks to be an electronic throttle body. You won’t believe what this part costs. The good thing is this problem is almost always a wiring issue. You might want to get the service manual and wiring diagram to troubleshoot.
