    The worst thing someone can do is replace parts before determining what the problem is first through testing. Replacing anything has a possibility of also induce another problem Things like the coil can draw enough power if malfunctioning "might" lower the voltage enough to cause spark issues...

    Yes first pic is knock sensor item 12 Item 13 is knock sensor 2 and this is "IF" installed. The connector has the White/Blue but diagram shows a Black and yours has Gray. The White/Black connector is unknown to me and doesn't show up in the diagram Item 17 is the Engine Coolant Temp sensor...

    Don't know which motor but As Ship mentioned, could have a local shop rebuild one if it's something like a 5.7 motor. Get one from a truck at a junk yard and rebuild, or if you find a good running one, just change out the core plugs and head gasket, then use all the stuff off your motor

    The fumes out the carb is just liquid fuel in the intake Something must be getting hot and there is a bad connection stopping the fuel or spark. Starting fluid worked before but not next time. Use to idle but then wont' Agree, need to check power

    High octane burns slower then low. Running a motor with high when built for low just reduces the amount of available HP With marine motors reversion is key. Need to know the lobe separation and amount of overlap to determine how much protection is needeed

    Thanks Someone built a 454 mag (block, 502 heads, 525 intake), but may also have pushed power above 385HP. Figure out what the cam specs are to determine if reversion is a possibility

    Old style man restrictor gasket help keep mans full of water. By restricting some of the flow, this allows both sides to be full and closer to even. If no restriction is used then one side is always a bit warmer then the other. Could get into it further but you need manual 37 when using dry...

    While it doesn't matter which direction the multi port or Tee fitting is connected, it does matter that they are all connected in same direction. Don't start it 2 spots and connect in the middle without really paying attention
