    1974 starcraft islander overhaul

Yes ,pull corner caps off ,remove aluminum cover over transom ,probably have to pull rub rail partially off. GO to outside of transom and start removing all screws and tiedown hooks, then pull transom wood out thru the top.P.S this is after pulling outdrive and pulling motor forward!!!

    1974 starcraft islander overhaul

Having rebuilt a Holiday and a Mariner that had knee braces I was suprised at the lack of knee braces in the bigger boats.I suppose the i/o serves to spread the load over a larger area than an outboard. The same can be said for the Sea Drive unit .That bracket has got to be 12"x 20" at least.

    22' Islander rebuild

But did you tie your fishfinder to your hot lead on your nav lights with a scotchlock or your compass lite to your windshield wiper lead? How about bypassing the circuit breaker for your blower motor WITH A SCOTCH LOCK? I don't think so,my point being some people just grab power from what ever is...

I installed a new bilge pump and auto switch. Why does everyone run wireing all over their boat and not clean out the old s....t.A nice fused bus bar and good ground bar tied to the battery instead of a dozen of those blue scotchlocks.I hate...
