What do I have here. Steering set up.

This has been in my garage for 20 years. I must have picked it up to add steering to a boat in the past. Surprisingly all cables are are free and move easily. Length of cables are about 12 feet. Is this worth anything or should I deep six it.

Barn fell on my Jon boat

Heck why not. I couldn’t abandon it. Actually a tree fell on that boat a few years back as well. It’s pretty beat up but still floats and gets down the lake with not one drop of a leak. In the summer I keep it at a local electric only reservoir that I fish.

1988 Lowe 14v transome cap question

The one that came out is measuring a tad less than 1 3/8. Measuring the gap on the boat between splashwell and transom, and the gap between corner supports and transom it varies between 1 1/4 and 1 3/4.the one corner is tight at 1 1/4. I was thinking it’d be 1 3/4 as well. Is less a common...

1988 Lowe 14v transome cap question

No the transom wood only goes down about half way. The back bench is so close to the transome it’s hard to get a picture . Making progress with a cut off wheel, managed to get the first cast corner loose without cracking it.

1988 Lowe 14v transome cap question

No chance. Those transom corners are covering the top and also are welded to the entire transom cap as well as the side rails of the boat

1988 Lowe 14v transome cap question

One of my first thoughts as well. The issue with that is I’d have to remove a bunch of solid rivets. T Four that go through the bottom. I have zero tools and experience to reinstall those .Clearance wise I think it would be close.

Nothing? Have never done this before, no potential pitfalls to look out for? Guess I’ll be breaking out the grinder and go to town.

1988 Lowe 14v transome cap question

Transom has a couple soft spots. It is small and pretty easy fix. To get the cap off. the aluminum corners are welded to the gunwale. I’m assuming it’s a matter of grinding off the welds and welding things back in place once transom is complete. Any helpful advise appreciated.

Then why answer them a second time if it bothers you that much? Is it so you can post up complaints and belittle people? Is there a rule that limits the amount of times a question can be asked? Or is there a number that fits your own personal standard? Sorry for all the “ questions” Curious...
