Volvo Penta 5.7 GI-FF Quits suddenly then will run only at idle

I would look to find ways to keep the fuel cleaner. Additives (Blue marine Stabil). But fuel at a cleaner location. Use old fuel up.

Volvo penta 2 pin alternator wiring ?

If you get the excite and sense backwards to alternator the alternator will still charge properly with the engine running but will discharge the battery when the key is off. And the alternator will get warm with key off.

1987 Volvo penta aq125a starting problems

Maybe consider the kits that replace the points.

    2002 Glastron 175sx milky oil

You have an alternator and a possible water intrusion. Water intrusion could be as others have mention water flowing back up through the exhaust after a quick stop. Or head gasket or exhaust manifold.

2007 Larson cabrio 240 beeping and in limp mode

Well in this case you obviously replace the hose with a high quality but expensive VP hose. Is the alarm where it is as that's where it gets power from but signal to turn it on comes from elsewhere?

2007 Larson cabrio 240 beeping and in limp mode

Why didn't the mechanic who could not recreate it scan for codes? Or did he? There could be pending codes or stored codes. Either get a mechanic with a Diacom or buy one. Need to scan codes from time time.

4.3 no power to fuel pump

How did you try and suck gas from the fuel line? If it was your mouth I would guess you don't have enough suction.

4.3 no power to fuel pump

A typical internally regulated alternator has a smallish wire for sense (always has voltage). Another smallish wire provides voltage for excite (key on). And a large wire for alternator output. And ground via the case.

    Help water leaking

I agree that the engine probably needs to come out. Contrary to the popular name of "freeze out plugs" they are actually casting plugs. They are not there to prevent a cracked block when not properly winterized. But you may get lucky. Once the engine is restarted you need to check for milky oil.

SX-A, Drive will not turn prop

The drive needs to come off regardless. Once off you can check things out better. Check for metal in gear oil.

Catastrophic Engine Electronic Failure?!? Diagnosis Help!

People can complain all they want about the engine electronics and EFI and the cost of a Diacom. But I had a 1987 Mercruiser 5.7 L with carb and electronic ignition. And now a 2012 VP 5.7L with an ECM, EFI, etc. The 2012 starts and purrs like a kitten. Significantly better starting and...

Catastrophic Engine Electronic Failure?!? Diagnosis Help!

Your either going to buy the Diacom to scan the engine codes now or latter. If your going to DIY maintain your engine you need a Diacom.

    FWC V8-300-C-A

If you fill the reservoir to the very top when the engine is cold and then run the engine until its at operating temperature the coolant will expand but there is no place for it to go to so what happens?

    FWC V8-300-C-A

So what happens if one full the level up to the very top of the reservoir and screws the cap on and gets the engine to it's normal operating temp?

    FWC V8-300-C-A

This is a new to me boat. When I bought the boat the FWC was low on coolant and it took a few tries to get the cooling system filled with coolant and get the air out of the cooling system. Then while running the engine as a final test before an actual run in the water and a hose blew off where...

    Removing impeller

The small O-ring at 12 o'clock is a keeper for the bolt. They go on the the bolt after the front cover to prevent the bolts from falling out of the front cover and into the bilge and never to be seen again.

Overheating during cruising but normal under idle

You need to see if it happens again. Could be something as simple as you picked up a plastic bag on the outdrive water intake and when you slowed down the plastic bag got free. An IR thermometer gun will help you figure out which part is actually overheating. What year? I don't suppose you...
