I've seen many a wooden boat soaking in early summer, but not at the ramp. That is what seals them up.
We spent many weeks vacationing on Long Lake just north of Interlocken. Northern Michigan is absolutely awesome for boating.

Our first boat was a Crosby, close to the top boat in the picture. Ours was a 1964. On one side the Cr had broken off, leaving osby. That is how I came up with my screen name when I joined iboats.
On the new ones, sink the carriage bolts into the wood then carpet them. Maybe use tee nuts buried in the wood, still better than screws. Screws are not a long term solution in wet conditions IMHO.
Just wanted to thank all that post here in Dockside Chat. I enjoy the humor, the honesty, the freedom, the candor, and the lack of those lacking common sense. Solving the small issues of the world one day at a time.
