Slip/moored boat what do you do with your trailer?

Some years back, my sister and her husband bought into an HOA. All they talked about was how great it was, how much their property values were going up and how it only cost a few more dollars each month to live in such a nice area. 25 years later....they can't sell their HOA for what they have...

Spark plugs for a Merc outboard

I looked these up, the -2 means a larger gap for higher output spark but also requires a bigger charge to the plug.

    Wakeboat bans

In my youth, I had a 10' Jon boat and always out running around on the river. Also worked at the local marina, mowing grass and dock hand for fuel. We had a few hot rodders that enjoyed running close and trying to swamp my little boat. I.made note of the boats and when they came in for fuel...

    Outboard Stands

The motors can be laid down without issue, no stand needed. You need a hoist to pick them up. Used a small chain fall rated for 1000# from Harbor Freight to lift and swap out my 85 hp and 70 hp outboard. Used an old pallet and my ATV jack with wheels to move them around.

Slip/moored boat what do you do with your trailer?

Why does the out drive need to be removed frequently ? Is there another issue ? Usually once each season is all that is needed. Back in my younger days we kept our boat in a lift. Had a big 14' flat bottom boat we pulled up under the lift to do our maintenence.

14.5x19 prop. Contemplating a change, need advice

Right now you stated the wot is at 4800 rpm, so your lugging your engine and making it work harder. With a light load, I would adjust your pitch to get you near the max wot your engine is rated for. Cruising speed/ rpm mean nothing, wot rpm is what you prop for.

Slip/moored boat what do you do with your trailer?

Park the empty trailer in your back yard where it can't be seen, do a camouflage job if necessary to hide it.

For those of us who tow our boat, do you inspect it ?

Many trailer frames have no drain holes in the frame....they need to have some if the welded frame seems to have most of it enclosed. Especially boxed frames, mine is mostly U shaped frame so not an issue.

    1985 Starcraft porpoising issue. Prop??

The opposite shape is a " rocker" in the keel which produces outward more in the center from the front and back. A rocker if severe is a cause for porposing that can't be controlled.

Connections to "I boats forums" have been very difficult to make here in recent weeks. The gateway timeouts seem to be the normal here of late ! Hopefully this gets corrected soon........?

    1985 Starcraft porpoising issue. Prop??

While I do consider them a last effort, you might consider adding a tail fin on the cavitation plate on your outdrive. I have saw them solve such issues. Being a toolmaker, I have always made my own from SS sheetmetal, they worked much better and were smaller than the big plastic contraptions...

For those of us who tow our boat, do you inspect it ?

What to many horror stories around my area due to the boating popularity of being in the "Walleye Capital" ...You would be shocked at what you see at the launch ramp after the boats are off the trailers ! Gives a person a real kick in the pants to check their own trailers.

    1985 Starcraft porpoising issue. Prop??

I have always adjusted my prop pitch to give me max wot rpm with just me onboard, this way adding extra passengers and gear will keep my rpm in a safe range yet give me best speed. I always carried a spare prop with 2" less pitch for skiing and knee boarding than o get the hole shot. I would...
