    Propane Heater in Boat?

I thought it was illegal to have a propane tank in the boat. But if it's not, it seems pretty dangerous. https://www.oregonlive.com/sports/2022/03/bill-monroe-living-vicariously-through-a-thrilling-salmon-catch.html?outputType=amp

Well, mine does smell like gear oil. Good, clean gear oil. That was really the only real take away - the gear oil in my lower unit smells good. Good as in it's good - nothing wrong with it.

I like the smell of gear oil, motor oil, and grease.

Regular maintenance - change just the impeller or entire housing too?

I wasn't really speaking on your suggestion. It's a good one. I was speaking more about not replacing a perfectly good one with possibly an lower quality aftermarket one.

Regular maintenance - change just the impeller or entire housing too?

If the housing is original and in great shape, I surely wouldn't want to replace it with something other than genuine parts.

    Rec gas prices???

Non-ethanol 92 octane = $6 per gallon. Oregon City OR. 92 octane you can pump directly into your classic car/truck. 87 octane you can't. It's only legal for recreational and tools.

Regular maintenance - change just the impeller or entire housing too?

I don't want to hijack this thread, just asking a supplemental question. Do you guys put a little grease on the impeller fins when replacing it? If so, any type grease? Vaseline work?

    Homemade transom savers?

Before I posted in this thread I went back and read the forum rules again. "NOTE: Some threads are never ending due to the subject or nature of the thread. Administration and Moderators do take this into consideration." . So, does anyone have more ideas for how they built their own Transom Saver?

Checked the gear oil. Not milky and smells good. Hopefully start it up this weekend. I read that I can run it without the lower unit by hooking up a hose to the pipe that would go into the water pump.

Ordered a $14 impeller from Amazon. Same part number as Brownspoint. Also bought one from Boats.net for $31. The Boats.net says it's genuine Suzuki. I'll post back with my take on both. . Edit, forgot to mention that I also bought this for the bolts when I put them back in. Loctite 299175 Paste...

    Suzuki 75hp

Got it out. The bolt has a flat edge that only allows it to go back on the same way. Impeller looks good. But beings I have it apart, I'll put a new one in. I just didn't want to start the motor without first checking. I didn't want a bunch of old rubber breaking off and going through the...

Sorry about the vague thread title. It's a 1984 Suzuki DT 75. I'm going to drop the lower unit to check/change the impeller. . I found the nut for the linkage bolt on the side under the rubber plug. I read somewhere else to be careful not to move anything or things can become out of sync. But...
