How bad of an idea is this for OB support while trailering?

Nothing wrong with what you did, your boat, your design and if it makes you feel safer, then it is a great idea. Personally, I have never had a hydraulic system fail, nor do I know anyone that has, but that doesn't make you wrong!! There are some folks that get their nighties in a bunch when...

How bad of an idea is this for OB support while trailering?

Been a boater for well over 60 years and have never had a power trim fail ! I do maintain my stuff on a regular basis. If something is not correct it gets fixed properly, no hack jobs. With that said, do you have any leaks or issues with the trim system ? Is your transom solid ? I have saw...

Shift rod position after impeller change

Once again...it was your mechanics mistake, he should be paying for having your boat brought back in !!

Shift rod position after impeller change

Return it to your mechanic and have him correct what should have been done before returning it to you !! If the job was free then another story, but if you paid for the repair, make them do it correctly.

    DT50 Suzuki 2 stroke.

Time to replace the fuel line ?? The gray colored lines are junk to begin with, and check the fittings as well. If any of the fuel lines under the hood are dried or cracked, they can come apart inside and clog up the lines.

    1980s Grumman meter series

Wood is less expensive than a fabricated all aluminum transom, and it is actually stronger than an aluminum pound for pound. As the wood goes bad, so does the integrity of the transom, so most newer, better quality boats have now gone to all aluminum, except for cheaper utility boats. As a...

2002 Sea Hunt 172 vs Key West 1720.

More about how the boat was stored, used and maintained than the name plate on the hull. I have a neighbor that bought a new boat in 2015....already trashed and has a bad motor, but the hull looks very nice from the outside !!

    Tarps

Look around and see if you have a truck tarp maker nearby, the ones for semi trucks. Had them make me some tarp/ covers for some atv's back in 2003. Those covers last forever ! Mine are still like new ! Square covers are not that expensive, think I had about 250 in the two I had...

    Black Friday trolling motor deals

West marine is normally high but...on some things they are very competitive or even less. They were much cheaper on some hardware and my winch that I bought last season. On my Fulton winch, they were 50 bucks less than anyplace ! Never know for sure unless you check !

    1988 Lund pro v 1700 questions

Often they are just a large head rivet, so the carpet doesn't pull up around the rivet. Start with a small drill like 1/8" and drill thru the rivet. Keep enlarging your drill until you find the right size that cuts the body dia. If there is a spot you can see the underside of the rivet, then...

    1970 Astro

Hope the prior owner was truthful and your boat is solid....however an inspection is in order. You need to access the wood frame and be sure it us solid. You and your guests lives may depend on it. Even as simple as drilling a small hole from the inside into the transom and stringers without...

Fuel capacity for 1990 sea nymph

When I bought my Sylvan, I had the same question and found no answers. Pulled the inspection plate to access the fuel lines and found the tank tag. My in floor tank was 18 gallons, so find the tag on your tank, and nope, they never make it easy to find information.....

    One more old Boat Rescue

I am 74 and a lifetime boater...my choice is a 16' aluminum boat, wide and deep, very stability platform and far less effort and cost. At our ages, finding things to work on and spend money on before I can enjoy it is long over....now I just enjoy, work time is over. You other project looks...
