    My 84 4winns horizon 195 project.

Bow hatch in, cleats bedded, blower run, trim and tilt installed... I'm sure I am missing some stuff but.... she's trailer ready. Edit: also learned the bow deck is balsa core.

    Ram down....uggh

Does it not have a smart charging system? That voltage, if it does, doesn't really seem out of line to me if it's been running a bit...

    Ram down....uggh

It wouldn't surprise me if the 5.3 is phased out in the next gen truck. Especially considering most people buying the thing couldn't even tell you what engine was in it anyway.... I give ford a lot of credit, their stock tuning on all their vehicles is probably in the top end of all OEMs. GM...

    Ram down....uggh

My dodge experience wasn't great, truck actually didn't even make it off the lot without dying. :cautious: The happiest day of my ownership was when I got rid of it. We have a bunch of different trucks in the fleet at work. It's basically russian roulette. They all suck about the same. Sadly I...

    My 84 4winns horizon 195 project.

So... What do you all think I should use for sealing my new hatch to the deck. Seems there are about 500 different opinions on this matter. It is a Bomar 995 with a plastic frame. Seems Life-caulk may attack the plastic of the frame. So maybe Dow 795? 4000UV? something else?

Pretty much all I do. Commonly available and price point.

When do you pull your freshwater boat?

I've pushed through ice on the bay on more than one occasion to pull. The 19 is a trailer boat now and I've been out plenty in jan/feb. If the high is in the 40s I'll be out on something. The 33 comes out around thanksgiving depending on the long range. I've pulled week of Christmas if...

    I am not perfect.

For batteries I go buy whatever is most convenient to get a hold of when they fail (not if). There are only like 2 or 3 manufacturers of batteries left anyway. Granted they are all built to a specification but still.... I am hard pressed to get more than 5 years of service out of one in any...

How do you all like your remote oil filter setups?

If you're good with a mirror you probably could do the valve installed. Though it would take 10 seconds if the engine is already out. I fought the old oil filter more than anything. This engine for whatever reason always is a pain with removing the filter... Gets really good and stuck with a...

How do you all like your remote oil filter setups?

So I made the confirmation on this yesterday. I didn't accurately measure the bypass pressure but I can say the original installed in the block was lower than the mercruiser one I added. I used a 1/8 drill bit to depress both plungers and the factory one took maybe 1/3 the pressure of the...

    My 84 4winns horizon 195 project.

So I've made a drive link with most of the photos from the last month that way you all can see where I've gotten to. Yesterday I finished up my remote oil filter install, I'll update my other thread with more thoughts on that matter. Boat project drive link

Getting challenging to find somewhat common items?

Actually a few have. But in my defense there are 5 within a 15 minute walk from my house so it may be a saturated market!

Getting challenging to find somewhat common items?

Due to where I have to mount my remote filter, I have to keep the size to about a PF454 height wise. A good friend dropped off a case of 57099s last night so I'm good there now and that was a "no charge" sit down for a beer purchase... the best kind. I typically used the mobil variant of that...

Getting challenging to find somewhat common items?

Even more confusing... I stopped into an advance this morning just because. (Needed to burn some time) pf454 and pf1218 in stock. Also the cartridge for my 55 was stocked as well... I have more questions than answers now... Again. Figure almost every small and big block chevy used a 454 or 1218...

Getting challenging to find somewhat common items?

For years now I just walk in with a part number. It's easier unless it's like bulk hose or vacuum tube or something.

    Changing manifold on a 2004 3.0.

The replacement I had also had a hole there. Seems it is built to work for both applications. Sealant and an appropriate sized bolt fixed that problem for the 11 years I ran it.

    My 84 4winns horizon 195 project.

Any time. I wish I could upload photos as the last ones don't do it justice any longer. Oh, and I retained my 4 rod holders during the restoration. ;)

Getting challenging to find somewhat common items?

I'll do you one better. I've been waiting 3 months on an order from a friend for a water pump for my 2019 colorado. GM has them on back order for who knows how long. Not like they're an uncommon part or vehicle or anything. I just feel my proactive ordering may become a necessity by the time it...

Getting challenging to find somewhat common items?

Correction: Local to me. 😅 That's the plan from now on. I just hate not having the option if I need to. Such is life.

Getting challenging to find somewhat common items?

Yes, napa a 4 digit and wix a 5 I think. But that's the thing, they went down the interchange list for a pf454 and a pf1218 for all however many brands they stocked and not a single one was a stocked item at any store. Napa had them in the warehouse at least but AA or AZ had nada. Just annoying...
