    Chap Quality Control is gone

Not only boats, the motorhome industry is the same, poor construction and installation issues. In the showroom they tell you, no problem, the service dept will fix that !! My question is why wasn't it fixed before it was put on the showroom floor ?? A very high percentage of MH owners and...

Can I use any 2 stroke oil?

According to my Pennzoil TCW3 oil container, this two stroke oil has been certified to run in any two cycle engine whether air or water cooled !! Think I will stick with the Pennzoil recomendations like I have been doing since the 60's with not one issue. My jug of oil powers all my two stroke...

    Bluegill

They are excellent table fare, but finding big ones can be a challenge. Also they put up a great fight. In my area of the great lakes the yellow perch is very popular, the bluegill tastes just a tiny bit sweeter than a yellow perch. Many years back had a friend on a private lake that had a...

Yamaha 85 steering link, lock nut thread size?

If you can, measure the dia of the male thread with cailpers, then measure how many threads over a known length such as a half inch. Numerous thread charts online that could get you close. Find a local hdwe store and buy a few that you think might be right. Nuts are usually only 10 cents each...

Curious to see the outcome, for a smaller motor it might work, would never trust it on a high powered motor.

Tow your boat to a facility that has one, or get a pump and tank to do it yourself, don't use the builtin toilet, switch to a portable toilet you can take to a dumping station. Thats all I got !!

Replacing old 2 stroke with newer 4 stroke advice?

Not new tech at all, but the application is all new !! For decades we have been taught that 4 strokes should not be held at high rpm for long periods of time, to much mechanical and failures will occur. Now we are using OB motors at 6500 rpm for long periods of time ( boating) and we should...

Replacing old 2 stroke with newer 4 stroke advice?

Yet, wait another ten years or so and see what the price will be on a rebuilt, especially when shop rates will be 200 per hour or more. Look at how many two strokes still run perfect that are 40-50 years old, lets see how many four strokes are still running perfect after 40-50 years. Mabey...

    What size trailer winch?

My winch is way over rated for the weight of my boat, but at 73 yrs old, I needed to make it easy, not fast !! Even with the easy slow, low gear it only adds a minute or two to the cranking time....but oh so much easier !

    What size trailer winch?

Unless that is damaged or flawed it should hold the weight of your boat. Many lift systems use the bow eye and two stern eyes to lift the entire boat ..same as your winch strap, the snap eye should surpase the rating on the strap itself.

    What size trailer winch?

I just replaced my winch earlier this summer. My boat is less than 2K lbs, but, I have bad shoulders, torn rotator cuffs in both shoulders !! Heavy cranking is a big no no !! I bought a two speed winch from West Marine, nice quality, well made, best price for a quality winch anywhere. This...

Even if you get this up and running ( and you probably wont, no offense) all you will end up with is a possible parts boat and motor. Hate to bear bad news, but no one else will be interested in this other than for some spare parts mabey !! While these were cool looking, no one would be...

Best fuel stabilizer for older 2 strokes

The higher the alcohol content rhe more HP your engine will make IF it is set up to run on it !! The E85 vehicles are setup to run both E10 and E85, so when running E85 your motor becomes detuned thus the poor performance and economy. If you run straight E85 and set your engine up for it only...

Is my engine mounted low enough?

Not sure about 10 inches but from that pic, another 5-6" deeper would be better. Right now the cooling intake is just barely deep enough, better to be a little deeper !!

Older Minn Kota All Terrain 40 prop upgrade?

Yes....your 40lb thrust motor is underpowered !! I have a 16' side console Sylvan alum with a 55 lb thrust and it is good but I would not want less, especially in wind or current !!
