    Need to vent....

Yup, that's the part. The new one has an "a" suffix. I challenge you to find a parts diagram showing it though. The Internets had told me that this was integrated into the fuel tank in 2017+, but if this is the fix then apparently that isn't the case. So I guess good news there. I may see if the...

    Anybody use OTA TV?

I couldn't tell from the description what exactly they're selling here. In the past these were basically pirating content, idk if that's the case here or not. I have a rooftop antenna and home made dvr system that's accessible to any device on my network. Also for free content Samsung TV and...

    Need to vent....

Not sure which canister you're looking at, but the below is the part needed. Also that is the leak detection pump that you posted, which is a different animal. Interestingly, VW just came out with a fix. It's a new pump, so apparently it isn't integral with the tank. But like I said, it's a...

    Outdrive oil leak..

No. Need to remove everything. Not too horrible though. As Scott said, you have an mc-1 lower. Not sure if the mc-1 upper and alphas use the same seals, or which your upper is. Also as Kenny said you'll likely need to speedi sleeve your drive gear

    Need to vent....

Well, the EVAP canister and charcoal are an integrated unit ($700). I didn't think I'd end up with charcoal everywhere, I was thinking fuel. Either way back flushing the lines is the answer. The valves look simple and only a couple. The pump in question is not the fuel pump, it's a "suction jet...

    Need to vent....

So just a bit of an update... The condescension continued. They "diagnosed" the problem by calling VW tech support and being advised to change out the whole evap system (fuel tank, evap valves, charcoal canister, etc) to the tune of $5200. Out of my pocket. I was told my symptoms don't match the...

I got got on a new purchase

This sounds like the obvious answer, again assuming the new boat is solid. You could upgrade the drive then as well. Don't bang around. Drill core samples, especially transom around the key hole and any penetrations, and the stringers (esp near the stern) and mounts. May or may not want to pull...

    MerCruiser update

Aside from potential toxicity/environmental concerns, why not run EG on the raw side for those inclined to use AF. @Lou C ?

    MerCruiser update

Yeah, I still suspect that this is merc's attempt to limit user error. The case could be made for corrosion protection, but in a rwc salt engine I think you're pissing into the wind.

    MerCruiser update

I'm curious why for many years Mercury didn't require AF for winterization, but then it suddenly became mandatory. I don't think a lack of corrosion in MN is applicable to motors run in salt. I'm also skeptical of the claim that most corrosion happens during layup rather than during the season...

    Need to vent....

So got a call back yesterday. "We were able to recreate the problem" "So it wasn't water?" 🙄 They're telling me that VWoA won't approve the recall work because the symptoms don't go along with the recall (posted below). Not sure how it could possibly be any more consistent. They say VW thinks...

Had to send a FAX or "Back in the 20th Century."

I was talking more specifically about the third party free fax services. Your information ends up on their servers, who knows what they do with it. There are certainly ways to transmit information securely. Your information is much more likely to get leaked due to their carelessness

Mercury 6.2 ECT DTS Axius Voltage Issue

Had to send a FAX or "Back in the 20th Century."

Hmm. Think my printer has a fax function. I also have a BT analog phone line -->BT adapter that can dial through my cell phone. I wonder if the printer could use that. But on the rare occasions that I need to fax, there are still a couple of free services online that will fax a scanned image...

WARNING !! WARNING !! About brand new sparkplugs I bought.

Just replaced the plugs on my 235k truck for the first time since I bought her in 2009. Gap easily more than 0.060 (upper limit of my gauge). Plugs might damn well have been original.
