    Raising the Transom?!

That 9.8 is minimal hp for that boat, a 25 hp would be much better. You might consider getting a larger motor with the right length shaft before raising the transom. Unless you have a specific reason for a small motor, that 9.9 might be dissapointing... Just a thought !!!

Wondering why my boat drain plug is at the bottom not on the transom?

Yep....gotta watch those !! When I had these clamshell drains, I either used a screw in plug or a rubber adjustable stopper type plug. A spare was tethered close by in case the original moved out of reach.

Wondering why my boat drain plug is at the bottom not on the transom?

When underway, the clamshell creates a vacuum and pulls the water out thru the bottom. Very popular back in the 40-60's...Amazon has them, can be riveted or bolt and nut screwed to the bottom over the drain hole...Just be sure the plug is back in the hole before you stop....

Wondering why my boat drain plug is at the bottom not on the transom?

Put a clamshell scupper on the bottom, it will suck the water out while underway..

There are those that use clothsline, but it doesnt work well at all....steel cable covered in a heavy vinyl coverung is what is needed...springs to keep tension. In my younger days back in the 60's I rebuilt a few of them. They work well if setup properly, but if they are not...they are...

Marine Carpet Glue For Wood Decking

Yes, but depends on how much water it gets. I have carpet all over the gunwale and front deck, I stay out of excessive high waves and don't bury my bow into the water. Also put my boat in a barn and run a fan if the carpet is wet. Boat is a 1992 and solid as a rock, no soft wood anywhere...
