    Outboard life expectancy

Does everyone want or need the most powerful or fastest accelerating motor? I sure don't. Not everyone is fishing tournaments, or trying to make up for their male deficiencies. Give me a solid motor that can push my boat at 30 mph and I'm good.

Is my engine mounted low enough?

Exactly. If you place a wedge between the hull and the bracket, so the mounting bracket is vertical, it will lower the motor several more inches deeper into the water. Problem solved, no new holes in the hull.

    Boat floor

I ran my vinyl past the plywood and 3 inches onto the aluminum. My boat is used strictly for fishing, and wanted to keep sinkers, hooks, swivels, etc., from filing into the crack and being lost under the floor. This was more important to me than aesthetics. It also kept water from getting...

    Steering Slack and Stiff Steering

Fittings on motor are for the swivel, and the tilt tube. The steering cable is sealed, non serviceable. The helm can be greased, but you're not getting grease into the cable sheath. You need to disconnect the cable from the helm, and the motor. This involves removing the steering rod from the...

    Mariner 5M no impeller?

What cools the gearcase on other outboards? Feeding water into a gearcase would get expensive. At a loss.

Manufacturers are supposed to use the standard testing procedures, so the consumer can compare apples to apples when comparing to vehicles. Do they all comply to the standard testing criteria? You might want to ask. https://www.motortrend.com/how-to/1502-sae-j2807-tow-tests-the-standard/

Best fuel stabilizer for older 2 strokes

Original poster asked if there was a preferred stabilizer for e10 vs e0 fuel, presumably for long term storage, as that’s what fuel stabilizer is for.

Best fuel stabilizer for older 2 strokes

We've all smelled gas that has gone bad, so how does no stabilizer prevent that from happening to the fuel left in the tank? Sometimes it can go bad over a winter, but usually longer. I've actually used 4+ year old gas that was treated with sta-bil, with no issues. If I had to use e10 gas...

Lake depth and how shallow can you run?

Gotta go where the fish are. Don't have an hour + to get up the channel, so... I trust my chartplotters. One has LakeMaster chip, the other has Navionics chip. I just have to remember to adjust the water height offset for current conditions.
