Shoestring Starcraft SS160 Resto-mod - let the long slow road begin

That wheel is exactly what I had on my Kingfisher and I liked it so much that I got one for my current Mirrocraft boat. Never burned my hands on it at all here in Florida, even in upper 95+ degree temps on sunny days.

Can not stop wanting a Butterball Turkey.

My wife and I skipped the whole big turkey meal this year. She won't eat the leftovers and I'm the only one who will. So, we went with Marie Callender meals. Worked well! 🦃

Shoestring Starcraft SS160 Resto-mod - let the long slow road begin

The stainless wheel is definitely easier to maintain. Down here in Florida, they can get pretty hot, but up where you are there should be no problem. Gotta love a Brodie knob. I have one on my tractor. (y)😁

    1974 Starcraft 21’ Holiday

Duh. I forgot something. I hadn't had my coffee when I made this post earlier. :coffee: :sneaky: I used the finishing nails on the sides of the aluminum cap, as well as along the top. Plus, at the end of the cap, where the transom cap meets the sides of the hull, I used long stainless wood...

    1974 Starcraft 21’ Holiday

When I added the transom cap to my Kingfisher, I slathered the transom with 3M 5200 and glued it down. Then, I drilled small holes through the aluminum and about 1/2" into the wood. Next, I filled those holes with 5200 using a syringe and then used stainless finishing nails to secure the cap...

Suggestions on how to fill my onboard gas tank?

Thanks Chris, you are correct. I already got the info I wanted and have stated my plan in other posts in this thread. I guess some guys are too lazy to read. Maybe I can get a mod to lock the topic?

    1997 Mirrocraft 18' aluminum fish n ski

Well, almost 2 weeks later, my shoulder finally healed up enough for me to get the gumption to go out to the garage and get back to work on the boat. :sneaky: Made some progress on a few things, ran into snags on others (had to order more parts again) and now I have a question. I have these 2...

Suggestions on how to fill my onboard gas tank?

I appreciate the link. I've had Carpal Tunnel in the past, but my current physical limitations go way beyond that. And no, I don't want to turn this thread into another old guy health problems gripe session!

And none of that stuff has anything to do with the purpose of my thread. :sneaky:

Suggestions on how to fill my onboard gas tank?

I'm a bass fisherman, so pretty much WOT all the time when the engine is running. 😃 But, like most bass anglers, I go from spot to spot and then stop and use the electric trolling motor for the bulk of the day. During an 8 hour fishing day, the engine might only run for 10 or 15 minutes in...

Yeah, all I have are 1 and 2 gallon tanks. :)

Suggestions on how to fill my onboard gas tank?

Hi guys. I guess I was too subtle about my concern. The italics above are the real issue. I'm talking about not being able to physically lift or lug fuel cans around, whether 5 gallons or 6 or 10 or 12; dolly or not. And I don't use a marina, so it'll be a gas station. I already know how to...

Suggestions on how to fill my onboard gas tank?

I have a 1997 Mirrocraft that I've been getting ready to splash. It has a 150HP Mercury 2-stroke outboard (premix) and a standard fill location at the stern of the boat. All good. But as splash time nears, I'm wondering how to get premix fuel into the tank. My beat up old body wouldn't do...

    1997 Mirrocraft 18' aluminum fish n ski

I think I need to start a thread on how the heck to fill up the gas tank in this boat. The fill location is easy to reach, but dealing with 2-stroke fuel is an issue. I'm not sure that it'd be smart to try to lift 5 gallon cans in there. So, I did post a thread about this here...
